    About "Al Stevens"

      • Al Stevens

Al Stevens Is a well-known author, some of his books are a fascination for readers like in the Teach Yourself C++ (English Edition) book, this is one of the most wanted Al Stevens author readers around the world.

    1. I'm not finished with this book, but am very pleased so far. Stevens' organization and completeness are excellent. He tries to go from simpler concepts to more complex ones, and not get ahead of himself. It's difficult to do this with a topic like programming, where everything is interrelated! The instruction is pretty easy to follow, and the examples are very apt and easy to understand, with good variable names. Unlike most C++ books, Stevens' does not assume you know C. I did notice a couple [...]

    2. I bought this book and Stroustrup's C++ Programming Language. I've been very happy with this book. The simple compiler isn't good for real development, but for learning the basics, it's ideal. The examples are built into the compiler to maximize ease of use. I think his coverage of the language is complete. Just as importantly, he sticks to the ANSI standard; quite different from many other beginner books. While one can't expect one book to give a complete mastery of such a complex lang [...]

    3. I bought the first edition of this book when it first came out, and found it to be a great book for someone trying to learn C++. Examples are simple and clear. You can read it on the plane or before you go to bed (i.e. you can put it down and pick it back up without rereading anything). Plus, the explanations don't hirt your head - they simply explain the key concepts (what a clever concept in itself). Buy it now! Especially, if you're stuggling with C++ concepts.

    4. This is the first time that I have written a review of a book I haven't finished reading -- and probably won't. I bought this book for the advertised purposed -- to teach myself C++, and as someone who started programming in 1965 (that's nineteen SIXTY-five) in assembly language, and has learned a number of languages since then, I didn't anticipate much difficulty here.On the plus side, the layout is nice, the book is clear and pretty well written, it seems to be complete, and the CD-ROM d [...]

    5. I don't like to say bad things about books, but it was a real waste of money to buy this book.First of all, the software included with the book is not reliable, and crashes. The author is not direct and to the point I recommend C++ The Complete Reference - Osborne if you are a beginner, know nothing about C++ and are looking for a good start.

    6. The book is very useful for people, which have some programming backround and want to move to C/C++ programming. On CD you can find perfect prog. tools named Quincy 97. Easy to use, plesure to deal with it! Text in the book has a lot of important information, but sometimes it's very hard to understand for beginner what next step he has to do

    7. This is the BEST book I've ever seen for learning c++. It explains all the key concepts of OOP and C++ in complete and comprehensive examples, from inheritence to copy constructors. This and Schildt's C++ Complete Reference are the most valuable books I own.

    8. The information in this book is very basic and does not prepare the reader to become a programer. Examples are easy to follow but explanations are simplistic and do not provide much insight.
