    1. As I started to read The Nostradamus Prophecies, I anticipated a DaVinci Code like thriller- full of twists and historic details. The Nostradamus Prophecies certainly contained those, yet quite a bit more. This is a very witty book! There were parts that had me laughing outloud. The plot is about an author who is seeking the lost 52 Quatrains of Nostradamus and a centuries' old secret society seeking them too. The real meat of the novel is the facinating and apparently accurate portayals of the G [...]

    2. Mario Reading, take a bow. This book is intriguing, well researched and written in such a conversational and imaginative manner that you end up thinking that you’re actually present in the plot while it unfolds. The book is in the form of a race between two men, Achor Bale and Adam Sabir, both in search of the missing 58 prophecies that Nostradamus is supposed to have written back in the 16th century. Those quatrains are supposed to point out the third anti-Christ, after Napoleon and Hitler. As [...]

    3. Saw this displayed in the library as I was looking for new books and decided to pick this up. I'll admit that I enjoyed The Da Vinci code, and from the jacket, you would think this would be at least somewhat similar. Unfortunately, it's not even in the same league (and that's saying something). First off, I couldn't stand the writing; it read like a nonfiction writer trying to write fiction (which is the case). Also, the characters were very flat, and I could find nothing clever, witty, or excit [...]

    4. A lot of people say that if you liked the DaVinci Code or similar books, you will like this one. I don't think that they have that much in common, but I still liked it. Yes, there is the element of a historic treasure (the lost prophecies of Nostradamus, which are supposed to tell us about the end of the world as we know it) and the search of it. And yes, there is a hunt that takes place in a number of religious places in France and Spain, where they find clues to the whereabouts of the propheci [...]

    5. If you enjoyed Raymond Khoury's Knights Templar novels or Dan Brown's Da Vinci Code, this is a good read for you. The premise is quite simple. Nostradamus wrote a thousand prophecies, ten prophecies for each year covering 100 years. Only 942 have survived. What happened to the missing 58 quatrains? Since each quatrain revealed something of the future, what secrets did the missing quatrains contain that made it necessary for them to remain hidden? These questions drive two men with very different [...]

    6. Wow! Get ready for an enormous adventure you'd probably never forget. Nostradamus, luckily, isn't the hero of the book, but it is certainly recommended to anyone interested in his figure, the gypsies and historical enigmas.I thoroughly enjoyed it.

    7. I read the Dutch translation of the book: Het Notradamus-complot.

    8. Oddly I had been watching documentaries on the Nostradamus prophecies , and took a trip to my local book store ancing through fiction and found this old book shoved between new releases what a gem ! So happy I found it and will be reading the remainder of the series . Wonderfully written, a good modern incorporation of the historical prophecies it wasn't that whole national treasure cringe feel . was believable . I loved the reference to the travellers and the history behind their culture like [...]

    9. I was expecting something along the lines of da Vinci Code by Dan Brown, but found this novel to be more along the lines of The Last Templar by Raymond Khoury. A hidden "treasure" that can only be found by correctly deciphering the clues, while being chased by an assassin and the police gives our heroes a tall order to fill. Intermixed with the story is a telling of the lives of gypsies and their customs and belief system. I loved it.

    10. A killer is on the loose, a killer who thinks he is doing God's biding. He wants to find the missing Nostradamus prophecies and will stop at nothing to achieve his goal. Pitted against him is a French-American named Sabir who is an intellectual and was simply in the wrong place at the wrong time. Add to this a Gypsy family and you have no idea where things will go.

    11. Not a light book for an easy read. Good knowledge of history would certainly help. Some of quatrains are pretty interesting.

    12. The past counts many mysteries and strange people, one of them being Nostradamus. Many of the things he had predicted, with no way of knowing mind you, have come true. The events all lay hidden in his prophecies, of which he has written a thousand but only 942 are known. Of course this raises the following question: where have the rest gone and why have they never been found? This is the quest Mario Reading’s protagonist sets on his book ‘The Nostradamus Prophecies’, a splendid thriller fo [...]

    14. Fast paced and keeps you on the edge. I like how the historical facts (I assumed) are explained in the layman ways (so you don't have to fall asleep, or roll your eyes or skip that few paragraphs). I learned a lot about the gypsies too. Makes you look at them at a different light. I also like the witty and sarcastic chief inspector in this novel. Reminds me of me! But the endinge ending, but the ending. Pfffft!

    15. This book has similarities to some of Dan Brown's books and in certain cases it seemed all too familiar. While interesting, I found myself counting the pages left so I could move on. In books of this type, even though fiction, I generally learn some historical information along the way. That wasn't much the case in this book, but Nostradamus' perspective on why he was publishing these insights into the future was refreshing.

    16. 2,5 tähteä. Olipahan tarina; vauhtia piisasi. Ehkä vähän liikaakin, en ihan jaksanut innostua kaikista juonen käänteistä. Mutta ei huono. Oli mielenkiintoista lukea romanikulttuurista.

    17. wow what a ride, just when you think its all over, something else bad happens. lots of action and adventure and twists. it was a bit violent though. I will definitely be reading books #2 & 3

Tetapi, ketika saya menyelesaikan membaca buku [...]

    19. Just another OK book. I wonder why most books that I bought from bookshops, those that cost me RM30 and above, usually tend to turn out to be quite boring in the end. Perhaps I was blinded by the shelves of books there that I can't choose a decent book. Anyway, about this book, THE NOSTRADAMUS PROPHECIES by MARIO READING. Despite the face that this book carries the name of one of the most famous prophets in history, I don't really think it is relevant here. In the prologue Nostradamus did made a [...]

    22. Don't know what pushed me into buying this. Maybe its price? Or I was somehow interested in Nostradamus? Got no ideea. Didn't regret buying it, quite cheap in fact. But it was a book of the kind I would've chosen to read just to pass time. That's what I did, actualy. Yeah, it is a thriller. It gets you thinking what might happen next. You will read it till the end only for this, at least that's what I did. But after turning the last page, I got hit with the fact that it wasn't something to enjoy [...]

    23. This was an odd book. I expected something along the lines of the Da Vinci Code and though there were elements of this it felt very different. Much of the book is set within Gypsy camps and really explores gypsy life and mythology. I really liked how Reading played on people's perceptions of gypsies and kind of turned it on it's head and made gypsies come across as the better people (and he is probably right). My favourite element of the book comes in the form of the mysterious Achor Bale. He's [...]

And why did Nostradamus leave his daughter a sealed container in his will? This mystery drives two men with very different desires. 25. If you like the plot, pace, twists and turns of Dan Brown's The Da Vinci Code you probably also like The Nostradamus Prophecies. An American author finds himself entangled in a quest to find the lost quatrains of the Nostradamus prophecies. Accompanied by two gypsies he travels through France following the signs that should lead to the missing prophecies. In the mean time a member of a secret association pursuits them in order to get the prophecies for their own evil reasons During that chase he [...]

    27. Nostradamus willed 58 quatrains to his oldest daughter, Madeline. What happened to them and what secrets to they hold? Adam Babir, a journalist, is on the hunt. But so is Achor Bale, whose family are members of the Corpus Maleficus, who have stirred up trouble for centuries to keep the devil at Bay. Adam is drawn into the world of gypsies who hold the key to finding the quatrains. As Adam and Achor race to uncover the documents, the body count ads up. And the police are hot on thier trail. This [...]

    28. DNF -Stopped at Ch. 59 pg. 125.I liked some of the chapters that included the gypsies and the parts that had action but it just seemed like other parts of the story were weighed down with alot of facts and information that wasn't even relevant to the story I don't think. It had potential but it just didn't deliver. The writing didn't flow together very well and there wasn't a whole lot about Nostradamus in the parts that I read. I'm pretty sure I'm not going to finish it. There are too many 5 st [...]
