    1. Ever read A Series of Unfortunate Events & thought "It would be really cool if instead of focusing on a trio of orphans & mysterious events, it'd be cool if Snicket wrote about conjoined twins?" If you've ever thought that, then you're in luck. Dresden Dolls genius Amanda Palmer has you covered in spades. (Oh yeah, and Jason Webley. I'm not too familiar with his stuff.)Fans of Amanda Palmer won't be surprised at how completely twisted & strange this collection is. A story like this c [...]

    2. It was odd, but not in a bad way. Like Lemony Snicket and Tim Burton, but pushing it darker and more f'd up. I liked the olde tyme feel, but the modern intrusions didn't seem to work but as for where it ended up, the modern intrusions NEEDED to work better.Evelyn Evelyn tells the story of conjoined twins who are very swiftly and violently orphaned and have to find there way through the seedier aspects of the world from circuses to the porn industry till they find some connection to others throu [...]

    3. Evelyn Evelyn is a story told by Amanda Palmer (one half of The Dresden Dolls) and Jason Webley, and illustrated by Cynthia von Buhler. It’s called a graphic novel but there are no separated panels on the pages. Instead you find picture book like pages with sinister drawings and little text paragraphs. This book tells the tale of Evelyn and Evelyn, two Siamese twin sisters who share three legs, two arms, two hearts, three lungs and a single liver. The two sisters go through a lot of pain, starti [...]

    4. If you’ve ever been curious about the origins of Evelyn Evelyn, then wait no more! Dark Horse has presented Amanda Palmer and Jason Webley’s inventive story of who these renowned conjoined twins are and where they came from. Aided by the artistic stylings of Cynthia von Buhler, this set of two hardbound volumes is sure to appeal to any fan of the music or the mystery of Evelyn Evelyn.Read my review on Fandomania.

    5. Evelyn Evelyn is a lovely haunting tale of sad happenstance. Cynthia von Buhler's illustrations heighten the storytelling to a visceral experience. I was especially struck by the sideshow chapter which was almost distressingly bittersweet. The book is a companion to the Evelyn Evelyn albumiefbookreviews/

    6. (4.5/5)You know me, I love anything having to do with carnies and circus folk. This story is told in almost a vaudevillian way, not in traditional comic panels or anything like that – if anything, it reads more like a children’s book. A gory children’s book. Would you expect nothing less from the frontwoman of Dresden Dolls? No, I didn’t think so. There’s a charm to it that you just don’t find anymore, possibly because they don’t make carnies like they used to. “Evelyn Evelyn” [...]

    7. Evelyn Evelyn is unlike anything I've ever experienced before. Although it’s labeled a graphic novel, it really reads more like a dark picture book. There is one large panel on every two page spread, and the story is told more in pictures than in words. As I said, it's unlike anything I've experienced. There is a gruesome charm to this book, and it drew me in to its pages without even trying. The illustrations border on disturbing, and are definitely macabre. Fans of this will adore Cynthia Vo [...]

    8. The good: This book for grownups that looks like a book for little kids is beautifully packaged, with two separately bound short volumes nestled inside a collectible-looking box. Neil Gaiman contributed an afterword, and that's mildly interesting to read. The bad: A weird little story about conjoined twins for whom nothing goes right, this book is quirky without being engaging. I think it's supposed to be a fabulist adventure, but it seems more like something that was improvised and then publish [...]

    9. I could take a moment to gush my love and praise upon Amanda Palmer and Jason Webley who have both tickled my funny bone as well as made me sob during their live performances, but this is not about their music…or is it?Evelyn Evelyn is a lovingly illustrated graphic novel that appears on the surface to be a charming children’s tale about a pair of conjoined twins. On closer inspection, any parent that would choose to give this to their under-ten child would probably scar them for life…perh [...]

    10. A Series of Unfortunate Events dipped in melodrama is the best way I can describe it. This book, created in connect with the Evelyn, Evelyn stage show, tells the tragic history of the conjoined twins who headline the show. One of those, I have no idea where this came from but it's cool in a weird way.

    11. As a fan of Amanda Palmer, I am certainly biased when it comes to judge the Evelyn Evelyn graphic countepart to one of my favourite albums, yet I will venture to heartily recommend it far and wide. This is certainly a tragic tale of two conjoined twins who run into some of the foulest aspects of contemporary humanity from their very first day at points, the reader may find that the sheer nature and amount of their suffering and bad luck is almost unbelievable, yet the visual recreation of the tw [...]

    12. Nothing beats my boyfriend's description of this book "it is a graphic, graphic novel." There is so much description with the pictures at the beginning that I had no idea what I was getting into and wondering how this was a YA GN at my library. But the more I read it, the greater it became clear. The "conjoined twins" went through struggles and great heartaches in their life. They managed to come away from tragedy and make something beautiful with it: art. A great message to be shared with all. [...]

    13. I enjoyed these books (set of 2 short books). The illustrations were beautiful. The story was intriguing. This graphic novel is the fictional back story of Amanda Palmer and Jason Weebley's musical project EvelynEvelyn. Although I enjoyed it something about it rubs me the wrong way. Their music is lovely and gaining popularity in the indie world. But the word that comes to mind is "Ableism". Although I'm sure this was not written with bad intentions, their musical project gives in to so many stere [...]

    14. This is the darkest picture book I’ve ever seen. Intended for grown-up audiences, Evelyn Evelyn is the story of conjoined twins named, you guessed it, Evelyn and Evelyn. Their life is filled with tragedies including some stereotypical features like a circus and a pornographic movie production company. But there are also chicken farmers, accordions and right-wing Christians opposed to the separation of conjoined twins. And throughout Evelyn and Evelyn have one another. It is creepy and sweet an [...]

    15. Dark, disturbing, haunting and funny. Fucking brilliant!A story of exploitation, death, child pornography, child prostitution, religion, and other distrubing topics. But it some how managages to be disturbing, touching, and funny all at the same time.I felt a connection with the title girls in thie story who are quite socially retarded because of their upbringing (ok, I was not raised as a chicken). Despite all they go through, they end up on top in the end. How does a book with so much disaster [...]

    16. I was surprised to really dislike this book. The author just threw a ton of horrible things together for maximum shock factor, all happening to conjoined twin toddlers. The illustrations were interesting, but I didn't really want a visual for the pointless awfulness described. I read the first volume & felt like the author was just being a jerk to her characters for no value except to be liked for referencing "weirdness." I love wackiness, darkness, etc, but I felt this was just an exercise [...]

    17. Evelyn EvelynThis wonderful back story to Amanda Palmer and Jason Webley's duet project, of the same name, is a gorgeous, dark, adult storybook that would please the darkest of the macabre. To read more go here

    18. An odd, very sad, very dark and twisted orphan story of conjoined twins who become musicians. I expect nothing less from AFP. I'm still a newcomer to Dresden Dolls, but I'm inspired to seek out the music on which this was based. I'm also wondering what happens next.A good recommendation for fans of Dame Darcy.

    19. Grabbed this at forbidden planet in nyc this morning and read it on the bus to boston. I'm a fan of all things afp, and this book is no exception. It combines the story from the album with really pretty childrens book type illustrations to tell the frankly disturbing story of the evelyn twins. I'm very happy to add this to my print book collection.

    20. One of the most singularly fucked up books I have read in a long time. The only thing I could think to compare it to is if Chuck Palahniuk wrote a children's book, minus the cohesiveness. The lack of cohesiveness only strengthens the "wow" factor, a tough feat. I will be buying this book asap (the one I read was rented from the library).

    21. I would've given this a 5 out of 5 if not for the jilted "James Frey" feeling I got in the afterwords by Neil Gaiman disclosing it was fictional. I didn't know who Amanda Palmer was , so I thought this was based on a true story reading through. Overall , the art and story telling is lovely regardless and I still enjoyed it.

    22. I adore the Evelyn Evelyn album so my best friend bought me this for Christmas. Although i havnt actually sat and read the whole book yet im so excited! LISTEN TO THE ALBUM!!

    23. conjoined twins seem so trendy right now, and the idea totally got me. I didn't feel totally wowed by the execution, though the art was pretty neat.
