    1. I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I must say, my review will be subjective, as I am a fan of Coil, Current 93, and Nurse With Wound. I'm not sure this would be an interesting read for anybody unacquainted with these unique musicians, but I can't make that judgment. The members of Coil, Current 93, and NWW are all friends, and all began making music around the same time in the late 70s/early 80s. Although their music differs greatly in sound from one another, they all have in common a uniqueness in [...]

    2. Líneas que unen puntos. Puntos que son tenues estrellas negras cuyos cantos arropan y aterran por igual a los durmientes. Estrellas que trazan constelaciones invisibles.

    3. England’s Hidden Reverse is an impressive, illustrated, hard backed volume coupled with a CD of music by Nurse With Wound, Current 93 and Coil.I read the original 2003 print, published by SAF, but I understand there is an updated and revised edition available. The text is a fascinating look at the lives of London-based musicians from these and other bands and the interconnected nature of their social and artistic endeavours. The tales are told in a broadly chronological order, jumping from one [...]

    4. Great account of an often overlooked 'scene' of experimental music. The music of Coil, Nurse With Wound and Current 93 in some ways couldn't be more different but in other ways they're all kindred spirits.I liked how the book would go back and forth between the artists and it was definitely interesting to learn more about the origins of Nurse With Wound and just anything and everything Coil (as I wasn't that familiar before reading). It takes a little while to get to the early 90's which is when [...]

    5. What a bunch of freaks sprung up from the English underground in the late ’70s and early ‘80s. David Keenan shares the mysterious histories of Coil, Current 93 and Nurse With Wound, three different but similar experimental aural adventurers, not quite a collective but with more than nebulous ties, in ENGLAND’S HIDDEN REVERSE. It’s great to walk the pages with these secret creators who’s esoteric recordings always hinted at more than they revealed. Keenan shows the roots and the stems t [...]

    6. Really enjoyed this history of current 93, coil, and nurse with wound. Definitely something for fans of those bands. I can't quite put my finger on why I feel this way - but I felt like the author was one of those people that was a bit stuck in an either/or mentality when it came to underground music versus that which is more pop - or just more well known. I found it odd that the author referred to skinny puppy as an american band - when they originate from canada. The songs he disliked the most [...]

    7. 4.5 starsThis book is almost as legendary as the bands it describes. First published in 2003 by SAF publishing, it went out of print and started to fetch HUGE prices among booksellers. This revised, updated, indexed and absolutely gorgeously put together is a welcome new edition. Written by experimental record shop (Volcanic Tongue) owner, David Keenan, this is a hugely in-depth and fascinating history of three very interrelated bands: Coil, Current 93 and Nurse With Wound. I have been a huge Co [...]

    8. I downloaded this to read on Scribd, as first-print copies are now going for around £200-£300 on eBay and other used book sites. I think there's a cheaper re-print due out soon, so I may buy one of those."England's Hidden Reverse" concerns the art and music scene built around three (interconnected) groups: Psychic TV/Coil, Nurse With Wound and Current 93. Coil consisted of the late John Balance (formerly Geoff Rushton) and Peter 'Sleazy' Christopherson. N.W.W. was pretty much built around Step [...]

    9. The book is a must-read to anyone interested in industrial and post-industrial subculture, especially british specimen. It is full of interesting sides of biographies of such masters of the genre as Coil, Nurse With Wound, Death In June, Current 93, Psychic TV and Throbbing Gristle. The book systemizes the connection between the musicians, their influences from the outside and on each other and even reveals some secret parts of their lives. You are going to discover their mystic and occult inter [...]

    10. Although it was published nearly a decade ago, this is still an excellent guide to the worlds of Coil, Nurse With Wound, and Current 93. The material on David Tibet's life and art is easily the richest material here, but good insights into the obsessions and working concerns of Coil and NWW are also abundant. Tibet is an able exponent of his work and it helps as his music can be quite difficult. His collaborators are also good interview subjects so it's a pleasure to learn of their contributions [...]

    11. what's great about this book the revelations aboute oncoming christian extremism onslaughtd how they transmogrifiedfum mcmartin skool witch hunt in cali th' ponda tabloids ( r. murdoch scandalsheets? )finding a rich target in g. p-o / ptv et alwhich led t' his exileoutta th' pand into the burning pyreof heartland amerikkka's that fer irony?

    12. Utterly absorbing and entertaining. An essential history of one of the most interesting post-punk scenes, and a vital, under-exposed period in London's cultural history. Superb production, wonderful images.

    13. This must-read for anyone serious about music history is the definitive bible on a post-punk experimental movement in the U.K. underground, focusing on a holy trinity of artists you've never heard of who pushed music's boundaries to its limits.

    14. the only thing that could have improved this book is a detailed discography of the three bands covered. a fantastic study of three of my favorite bands.

    15. This is an incredible book for anyone who loves the esoteric/ experimental sounds of Coil, Nurse With Wound and Current 93. Lots of photos, anecdotes and magical mystery tours.

    16. I read this while visiting friends in Amsterdam. It's probably odd to say that it was a "fun, enjoyable" read, but there it is.

    17. Well, I am trying to find a copy of this book to purchase but it is out of print. If anyone has a copy they would sell, please let me know. Cheers!Hamish

    18. A bit disjointed at times, but is the definitive tome for anyone interested in the esoteric industrial groups of the 1980s

    19. it doesn't seem like there's as much new material as i expected in the new edition but at least it's back in print

    20. i actually only read the coil parts because they had the least scene gossip, but even their gossip is interesting because they were so theoretical.

    21. I have had this first edition for years, and now they're finally releasing a paperback, in September. I guess I better read it now.

    22. Description of disturbing music made by disturbed personalities. A journey into the Black Heart of 'Merrie England'.
