    1. An Oldie but a GoodieLibby and Bernie are the main sleuths in this book and have to depend on each other because a blizzard has stranded them with the weirdest family possible. There is no help from their father or boyfriends and I enjoyed the story because it was focused on the murder and not on their personal lives.Good twists throughout and recipes at the end. Good holiday read.

    2. I read Isis Crawford's first book years ago and remembered liking it, but was sorely disappointed in this poor imitation of the fun foodie/mysteries by the likes of Diane Mott Davidson and Joanne Fluke. The plot was beyond cliche (a bunch of suspects plus sleuth-sister-heroines stuck in a rundown old mansion during an epic snowstorm which the police cannot even seem to navigate through to investigate a murder), the conversation (especially between the sisters after discovering dead bodies) is co [...]

    3. When their father decides to visit his long estranged sister in Florida for Thanksgiving, Bernie and Libby Simmons decide to earn some extra money by catering a Thanksgiving meal for Monty Field and his family. It won't be easy - Monty is notoriously stingy and his family doesn't exactly get along, but things turn out much worse than expected when Monty is murdered and the Field family accuses Bernie and Libby of doing the killing. To add to the problem, all are trapped at the mansion because of [...]

    4. As anyone who knows me can tell you, I love to read books with holiday themes at the time of the respective holiday. So when I was at the library the week before Thanksgiving, and saw this book, I decided it was meant to be.I had not read any of the previous books in this series, so this was my initial acquaintance with Libby and Bernie Simmons, sisters who own a catering business. As the book opens they are preparing to go to the Field Mansion to prepare a Thanksgiving feast for the Field famil [...]

    5. A pretty good but totally improbable cozy mystery. It does however, make one leery of the Thanksgiving turkey. I'll now always have visions of it exploding!

    6. My mom got this book from her library's book exchange area and passed it on to me to read. The Field family is not very likable, though I think that is by design. They are all in it for themselves and what they can get out of it. I didn't really enjoy the sister sleuth characters, Bernie and Libby, much either. Though they work together, I often felt like Bernie was forcing Libby to go along. This might be a good thing since Libby is so timid seeming that she might not ever do anything out of he [...]

    7. A Catered Thanksgiving by Isis Crawford is about Bernie and Libby Simmons, two sisters who have been hired to cater for a family that seems to fight more about the inheritance. The Fields seem fine until the head of the family gets his face blown off by the turkey. Not to mention that they already have plenty of fireworks to use in the empty bunker next door. With the dead body in plastic wrap and snow keeping them in with the same house as the murder, can they survive? Or will they be the [...]

    8. Drawing from the setting of a Clue board game, sisters Bernie and Libby visit various rooms like the kitchen, dining, parlor, conservatory and study, as well as the attic and garage of a drafty, musty, antiquated mansion, to determine from among the many family suspects of who killed skin-flint patriarch who is likened to Lizzie Borden's father Andrew Borden in his notoriously frugal ways. This book transitions well from chapter to chapter; however, it is difficult to believe that two profession [...]

    9. This is a new to me author. My daughter sent this to me as a gift and I really enjoyed it. I did not feel lost because I had not read the first books in the series. I do want to read other books in the series. I enjoyed the sisters and I really enjoyed that there was a snowstorm that they were dealing with. I liked it and will read others in the series.

    10. Libby is becoming a real stick in the mud! All characters in this book are stereotypical caricatures and become down right annoying.

    11. It was not something you had to concentrate on when reading. There were a lot of characters and at times I had to flip back to figure out who was who.

    12. Sisters Bernie and Libby Simmons have handled plenty of catering challenges with grace and aplomb. But this Thanksgiving, they’re cooking a feast for felons…Whipping up Thanksgiving dinner with all the trimmings can be stressful for anyone, but that goes double for the Field family. They know that every family get-together has to be picture perfect, or they risk getting cut out of dominating patriarch Monty’s extremely lucrative will. That’s where A Little Taste of Heaven, Bernie and Lib [...]

    13. This cozy mystery stars Bernie and Libby Simmons, sisters and owners of A Little Taste of Heaven, a Longely, New York, catering company. The plot opens as the sisters are hired to prepare a Thanksgiving feast for Monty Field and his family at the Field mansion. Monty is a local millionaire who made his fortune in the fireworks industry. Monty gives new meaning to the term cheap, keeping a tight rein on his money and his family. It is later revealed that Monty had a run-in with the sisters' paren [...]

    14. This is the first book I have read by Crawford. Though it is books seven in her culinary mystery series, Crawford has created a story that can easily stand on it's own. Though I hope to go back and read the other six books, I did not feel lost in this story by not having read the previous books.I have to be honest and say that I hated the Field family. I think that was Crawford's intent. None of them were likable characters, making it easy to suspect them all of murder. At times the banter betwe [...]

    15. I found this book in an search for Thanksgiving fiction. I wanted something light and holiday themed. The plot involves two sisters who own a bakery, and agree to cater Thanksgiving dinner for the family of a wealthy miser. The miser winds up dead, and the women and his family are trapped in the house during a snowstorm. Of course, they must find the killer.I found the style kind of talky, and the whole thing kind of flat. No one, including the sisters, seemed to react naturally or intelligently [...]

    16. This is another of the Catered Mystery series set around New York. Bernie and Libby are to cater a Thanksgiving dinner for a wealthy miser and members of his family. Bernie and Libby have received specific instructions as to the turkey to roast. They must use one of those frozen turkeys that contain a pop-up timer showing that the turkey is through cooking. Of course, the turkey has been substituted for an explosive turkey, and the family knows that the miser ALWAYS checks the pop-up device on t [...]

    17. I didn't really enjoy this book. I don't think I will be looking for others in this series. I kept losing interest in the story. I did finish the book. I rarely ever abandon a book, it has to be horrible before I do. The two sisters were so casual after a small bomb exploded blowing off half the man's head, it was ridiculous. I have read stories and watched shows where the characters joke at crime scenes to deal with shock, these two started like that but kept going so long I thought the police [...]

    18. A Catered Thanksgiving was my very first foodie mystery. I liked the change of genre however it always made me hungry while reading it so I am not sure I want to read foodie mysteries often. Bernie and Libby seemed super generic so much in fact I could not really tell them apart. I am not sure if this was due to A Catered Thanksgiving being later on in the series or if it was poor writing. Either way neither sister left an impression on me. The mystery itself came off as weak and if clues were d [...]

    19. I thought I had this one figured outuntil the very end. There was a point where I thought it was becoming rather tediousa cast of characters that had very little depth was hard to keep going with. About that time I realized something was reminding of Agatha Christie's style and i had to see what came of it. The family dynamics and conversations were tedious . Changing from the snowy North to Florida as Dad at his sister's was interspersed a couple of times felt disjointed. As the book drew to th [...]

    20. Caterers Bernie and Libby are all set to cater a family thanksgiving when they find themselves in the midst of a blizzard trapped inside a dysfunctional dynamic. While they are busy stuffing the turkey naturally one of the guests kicks the bucket. Since there is not much else to do and the police cannot get near to the house to investigate the corpse, the meddling sisters decide to do some sleuthing of their own into this wierd family that is full of the heirs to a firework company fortune. It g [...]

    21. Oh my god! Don't know why I soldiered on in this series. The first few were fine and enjoyable; them I became irritated with the sisters constant bickering. It wasn't amusing to me, as I'm pretty sure the author meant it to be. It is just plain dumb and annoying. In this book, the sister's are really not bickering with each other for a change. Instead, they have catered a Thanksgiving dinner for a very dysfunctional family. Talk about bickering. Oh my god!!! Would it never end in this book. Not [...]

    22. Libby and Bernie cater Thanksgiving for a miserly man and his family. While they are preparing dinner there, someone is killed, and the two girls are prime suspects. Cut off from civilization by a massive snowstorm and trapped with an extended family where each member seems to have motive, Libby and Bernie try to clear their names in one day (which seems to last forever). I cannot believe I am finally done with this book! It took me over a month. This isn't my fave series on a good day, but this [...]

    23. I was very disappointed in this book. The characters were paper thin and reading the dialogue was painful to read. This book made me understand the people who say they cannot relate to or like any of the charactrrs. The plot was pretty horrible, extremely scattered, and made no real sense. Bernie and Libby we quite stupid, basically arguing with every character when they could all kill them, and not bothering to even try to use tact. I gave up about 60% of the way through, I was just done with t [...]

    24. Cooking sisters cautious Libby and madcap Bernie are catering Thanksgiving for the wealthy, dysfunctional Field family when a turkey malfunction kills Monty, the miserly patriarch of the fireworks clan. A freak snowstorm strands the duo in the remote old family homestead, and even the phones aren't working. Maybe someone wants to frame the sisters for the crime, or maybe someone wants to see the body count go higher. There are times when the sisters really act stupidly, but who knows what he or [...]

    25. I had been looking for a Thanksgiving story to read in the month of November, and this offered not only a good story, but recipes and a mystery to boot! When our caterers arrive to prepare a holiday feast things begin to become deadly. The funniest scene had to be when the holiday turkey blew up and killed a man! Its definitely worth the read -- just put it on your November list and enjoy your Thanksgiving holiday!

    26. This is the second book in this series that I have read. I read the first one a few years ago. I do like the characters but it's not a series that I feel that I need to read the other books. Some book series and characters become like friends and I enjoy each new book as much as I would enjoy getting together with old friends. I don't feel that way about Libby and her sister. It was an interesting story though and the plot was rather unique.

    27. I rounded upon the rating because I like the other books in the series. This one would have been better, in MY opinion if she left chapters with the killer speaking. That's not the only thing but it would have been a start. It was slow, boring at times, like she was just trying to fill the pages. I missed the other characters like the boyfriends and even the cop exchanges. not my favorite but I will read the others because I already have them & because she deserves another chance.

    28. This is definitely my least favorite in this series. The constant exchange between Libby & Bernie got on my very last nerve. The stuff about the killer was just beyond silly and there really was no explanation as to why the killer acted the way they did. Hope the next one is WAY better than this one!

    29. Best one in the series yet! It's sort of a take on '10 Little Indians' - an interesting twist. The sisters don't fight much, and it's fairly suspenseful. The only downside is that you really don't get the chance to catch up with the other characters like Marvin, Brandon and Sean. Definitely worth checking out if you like mysteries!
