    1. Don't what else to say. Was it weird? Yeah. Creepy? Yeah. And yet I want to see where the story goes honestly. There are moments where its interesting.

    2. The dramatic tension was really racheted-up a notch with this volume, along with the pressure placed on Kyo to wed and bed (emphasis on the later) Misao. Kyo agrees to take Misao back home to his village with him, even though they both understand that if they do not fulfill the prophetic "joining" than Kyo could be removed from his position as Lord of the Tengu and replaced with his traitorous (and probably insane) older brother Sho. In an attempt to thwart this, the Eight Daitengu (sort of a bo [...]

    3. I feel like essentially nothing happened in this volume, yet I was still mildly offended. Interesting. The saga of Cori reading a manga she dislikes will continue after these messages

    6. 07 February 2013Black Bird, Volume 5 delves into the private life of Sagami by introducing his ailing wife, Ayame, who also happens to be Kyo's cousin. Pleas from home and Ayame's health create concern for Kyo and his vassals. Meanwhile, tensions are high with the Senka Roku having gone missing, causing the Tengu Clan to feel desperate for Misao to quickly become the Tengu bride.Kyo and his Daitengu take Misao to their homeland to introduce her to their clan and to appease the clan's patriarch. [...]

    7. owltellyouaboutit/posts/black-bird-volume-5/It’s pretty frustrating that I still don’t know exactly what kind of catastrophe is supposed to come about if Kyo and Misao are intimate more than once. It’s a weird concept and I think it’s kind of a silly one, honestly. It’s hard for me to just brush it aside and say it will work out in the end though because manga sometimes doesn’t end quite the way I want it to. I’ve still got a little ways to go though.I wasn’t very interested in t [...]

    8. **Loved** the castration joke. One of the best parts of the series is when the author makes fun of obvious alternate solutions or plot holes. The trouble with this volume is an awkward narrative flow leading to confusion about what's happening. Possibly something's lost in the translation in the final scene, because it really doesn't make sense. The heroine wants to visit the hero's grandfather (who's been pressuring for a consummation) to declare her intention to marry his grandson and ask for m [...]

    9. It seems that the Tengu clan are getting impatient with the sluggish progression of the main characters. I myself though am happy that there hasn't been any progression. Most manga falls prey to this personal moral breach.Anyhow it's the Christmas volume, and there is a bit of slapstick that is starting to make me warm to the supporting characters. I do like Sakurakouji's style; though I would like if she worked on her backgrounds and soft filler panels. Something about shojo filler panels just [...]

    10. (view spoiler)[ Is there something magical about demon sperm that makes birth control not work? SERIOUSLY? If demon-love-interest needs to sleep with the main character to get his powers, but pregnancy would be a problem C-O-N-D-O-M-S. B-I-R-T-H-C-O-N-T-R-O-L. HONESTLY, you're in MODERN-DAY JAPAN. These things EXIST and would solve ALL OF YOUR CONFLICTS. (hide spoiler)]If you're going to have a stupid conflict that places a ridiculous value on the (female) main character's virginity (which is pr [...]

    11. Like, the fascinating thing about this volume (or was it 4?) Misao suggests sleeping together once just to get the clan off her ass and Kyo flips shit because you know, all the physical things in the relationship must be on the pretty boy's terms. I swear this relationship is a textbook case of abuse, but at least the artwork is pretty so there's something.

    12. The sexiness ramps up in this volume, but, for reasons undisclosed, they can't go all the way. I feel like they're maybe using too narrow a view of "sex," here, especially for inexperienced teens. Regardless, both sides are angsting about it. There's more behind-the-scenes plotting, and a visit to the tengu's ancestral home.

    13. love it love it love it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! thank u sooo much Joti!!!!!!!!!!!!! lol i accidently wrote ur name as Jyoti.d then i remembered this cashier at Costco had that name lol!!!!!!!!!

    14. Possibly one of the most important volumes of Black Bird. Misao comes to Kyo's home over the mountains. Things don't go exactly as everyone planed and the cliffhanger will leave Misao in a very frightening predicament. Black Bird fans can't afford to miss this one.

    15. Not much happens in this volume.Kyo takes Misao back to his village where the patriarch expects him to breed with her or lose clan leadership in favour of his imprisoned brother. His only other alternative is to kill his brother. We also get some nice exploration of Sagami and we meet his terminally ill wife.Enjoyable and engaging with beautiful art but this is stretching the story a bit and isn't the best volume.

    16. Better than volume 4. Miaso still cries about everything (unfortunately) but we're getting a better look at the Tengu clan. Ayame was really a sweet character and gives a bit of humanity to Sagami. Glad to see the story progressing along with the relationship between Kyo and Misao. Really Wish she'd stop crying so much, it makes all the romance-ish scenes feel a bit rapey.

    17. so we end the volume with misao going after kyou's sociopath brother?????????????????you know, the one who tried to rape and murder misao? yes, him.WHYWOULDYOUDOTHAT??????????? LMAO

    18. This volume is cute. The comedy is spot on. The art is beautiful. The story just got interesting.BUT.This should really be rated higher than OT+. Like Wow.

    19. This review will be the same for all of them-- excluding book seventeen and eighteen-- as I'm going to briefly review books 1-16I've wanted to read this manga for quite some time, and once I started reading it like a few weeks ago. I couldn't stop. Despite what anyone says, I love this manga. I love the artwork. I love the main character's romance. I love the plot line. And I love all of the characters that make up this manga. There's a lot of people who've said that Hime-sama, the main characte [...]

    20. So in the last volume, after Misao managed to save Tadanobu's life (the head of the fox demon clan and friend to Kyo) in the last volume, he tells Kyo that he can marry Misao but can only have sex with her once or bad things will happen. He's also got to control the situation with his brother in order for him not to retake the title of head of the clan. This is the first volume where it actually seems like Kyo really loves her and doesn't just want to get in her pants, even though he doesn't say [...]

    21. 'Misao is the bride of prophecy whose blood gives power to the demon who claims her. But most demons want to keep her power for themselves - by eating her! Now Misao is just trying to stay alive'In this volume, Misao headed to Kyo's village in order to be introduced to his clan. Kyo's grandfather, the clan's patriarch, is impatient for Kyo to produce an heir but Kyo is worried about what will happen to Misao if they consumate their love. Also, we got to delve into Sagami's character, which is wh [...]

    22. Volume 5 of Black Bird has our adorable couple heading to Kyo's hometown to meet the clans patriarch and to introduce Misao to her future family. But of course this can't be a happy eventturns out the patriarch of the clan doesn't plan on letting them leave until he is sure that Kyo and Misao have consummated their relationship. Talk about pressure, and creepy pressure at that. Not to make things worse or anything, but of course Sojo is being held prisoner in the clan's village and there are stil [...]

    23. This book is a good book because it is very interesting. I think that when Kyo and Miaso is together they are always fighting. When I read this book I always get away from the problems I have to deal with. This book is interesting because Kyo plans to make Miaso his wife. When he goes over to Miaso's house to pick her up because he is bring her to his village. He told Miaso's mom that he was going to marry her and that she was going to his village. I think that something is wrong in the village [...]

    24. OMG SAGAMI IS MARRIED!?!!? :O OMG, HIM AND AYAME ARE SO CUTE!!! :D AND I DON'T LIKE KOH, OR KYO'S GRANDFATHER, THE "PATRIACH" IN THEIR VILLAGE, BACK HOME - HE MAKES ME SUSPICIOUS OF HIM -_____- OMG, KYP AND MISAO SHARING THE SAME BED LOLLL :P AND THEM ALMOST TRYING TO HAVE SEX ONCE BUT KYO SAYING IT WOULD NEVER BE ENUF ---LOL AND THAT SIDE PANEL; WITH KYO AND MISAO---DOING THE MATH PROBLEMS OR HE'D TEACH HER A NAUGHTY LESSON - AND HE HAS HIS HAND UP HER SHIRT LOLLLLOMGGG - I CAN'T WAIT TO READ M [...]
