    1. I adored this book and devoured it in an afternoon. His raw truth, combined with great storytelling, kept me glued to every word - and there are some really impactful statements in these chapters. While this gay, Southern boy hasn't lived as glamorous a life as Mr. Jordan, I could still relate to so many of his musings and struggles. And while we've made very different choices in our lives and grew up in different eras, we share a common experience of growing up gay in the South with religion do [...]

    2. Beats there heart so dead to love and laughter that it hasn't rejoiced to the sight of Will & Grace's Beverley Leslie and Karen Walker having a bitch-fight? I know mine does even yet. Leslie Jordan is my hero for that role, and for the fearless and wonderful job he does as Brother Boy, the Tammy Wynette-tribute drag queen in Sordid Lives: The Series, whose tragic seemingly permanent hiatus causes me great spiritual pain.He is also my hero anew for this line: "I write to keep the conduit open [...]

    3. I first fell in love with Leslie Jordan when I came across the show Sordid LIves about a white trash family in Texas. It is hilarious to the point that I was laughing until I was crying. It also deals with homosexuality and how to come out of the closet. Leslie Jordan plays a cross dresser that his mother put in an institution because he kept getting beat up. The institution believes they can "dehomosexualize" him. I do not believe in this at all. I do not believe homosexuality is a choice; I be [...]

    4. If you’re looking for a memoir with a lot of literary value, then keep going. However, if you’re looking for delightful anecdotes, stinging quips and an all-around hilarious, yet touching trip down Memory Lane, then Leslie Jordan’s “My Trip Down the Pink Carpet” is a good choice.Full of southern charm, Jordan recounts a variety of details from his life in a small southern town and his journey to becoming one of television’s most recognizable character actors. Most people will know hi [...]

    5. Even if you don't recognize Leslie Jordan's name, you've probably seen him as Karen's diminutive nemesis, Beverly Leslie, on Will and Grace or any one of hundreds of unforgettable characters he's created. I saw him in a production of Southern Baptist Sissies in Los Angeles several years ago and thoroughly enjoyed seeing him "up close and personal" (literally, since I bumped into him in the lobby after the show!)Jordan's collection of stories entertains and yet fills me with a great sadness for h [...]

    7. Leslie Jordan stands 4'11" tall. When I stood next to him following his performance with the Seattle Men's Chorus, a) he came up to about my armpit, and b) since I am a 5'12" straight woman, he did not notice me! He was very funny at the SMC, and his book is very funny as well. Some of the anecdotes from his life are rather sad, but told to be humorous. I laughed out loud when he said that he screamed and locked himself in the bathroom, and this was on more than one occasion. My actual comment w [...]

    8. This book was such a pleasure to read! I have always adored Jordan and his work. Beverly Leslie and Brother Boy are two of my favorite characters in modern television! Jordan's gift for storytelling just pulled me in, and I really found this one hard to put down. I laughed out loud so many times, and even got some chills at points. What a journey this beautiful soul has been through, and I'm glad to have spent time reading about it. OK, so yes, this is a celebrity bio. If you don't enjoy those t [...]

    9. There's something empty about this book. Maybe it's the anecdotal style of cute stories with funny punch lines, one after another or possibly it's the choppy chronological structure. At any rate, I came away from this feeling like I'd been on the phone too long with someone who was trying too hard to be funny. Jordan has endured a lot of tragedy, but I couldn't make a connection emotionally with the way he shared his story.I think the strength of the book is in the discussion of internalized hom [...]

    10. I absolutely devoured this book in 2 days!! I've always enjoyed Leslie in Will & Grace and little did I know that I would enjoy him even more as a storyteller. I love his humor and his style of writing makes it seem as if you were being told a story by someone's grandpameone's very gay grandpa lol. The stories through the first 3/4 of the book are hilarious and the ones in the last 1/4 are very touching and endearing, which make this a very well-rounded book for almost anyone to enjoyat is, [...]

    11. Its fun, its silly, it is easily read in one day (probably in one sitting)--is it actually a book? It might be a magazine, or a conversation with your naughtiest friend.Jordan has been a working actor forever, but he didn't achieve fame until he brought the fabulous Beverly Leslie to life on "Will and Grace." (Hard to believe he only appeared on 12 episodes!) This book is all over the place. Jordan spends more time talking about his obsession with large penises than he does on "Will and Grace!" [...]

    12. Coincidentally, today is Leslie Jordan's 59th birthday! I quite enjoy Jordan as a performer. I know him best from David E. Kelly's shows and also from a Star Trek guest appearance in which he played a Ferengi. Though Jordan is a successful actor I don't think he can be called a successful writer. This book has no structure and almost no literary value. It reads like a stream of Facebook statuses or unconnected, drunken ramblings. There are good nuggets here but they're well hidden. I can't really [...]

    13. A little unstructured but compellingHaving seen his live show I knew his stories were irresistibly fun to hear, and he does develop a lot of histhemes much more deeply in the book Than he can do on stage. The short chapters feel a little choppy and disconnected and the overall shape of the book feels messy but his self revelations are gripping especially all of his inappropriate crushes on unavailable movie stars and country singers

    14. So winning. Funny, sweet, smart, edgy, and honest! Who knew our littlest homosexual and nemesis of Karen Walker was this deep?I'll admit that I'm fascinated by "celebrity" autobiographies. There's always dirt in them, a bit of pettiness and grasping for that last bit of famebut with Jordan's book, you get a lot of humor, an extra dose of humilityd quite a surprising amount of acknowledgment at just how lucky he is in life. Quite winning.

    15. This book is a gas to read! I mean it is hilarious. If you love Leslie Jordan as an actor and any of his characters, you will love this book. It covers his life, from growing up, to his recovery from drugs and alcohol, and his honest and open views on growing up as a Southern Baptist boy. It includes some of the amazing people in his live, and some of the tragic ones as well. This book is completely honest, revealing, and refreshing to read!

    16. not enough details in the right places to make it really good and the humor was not that funny. He was better on Will and Grace and Boston Legal. Writing is not his strong suit. He hints great great stories, but never tells them, or never gets you the juicy details you so want to hear. He does tell clearly how it is hard to come out of the closet--especially being shout and with a southern accent!

    17. This book is definitely turning a negative into a positive. Jordan's puts his life on the page as a cautionary tale of fear and self abuse. All the while, though, the reader smiles and giggles at this funny man's antics. For him to have achieved so much at even the darkest moments he recounts here is remarkable. For him to have survived it all and to continue making us laugh is even more so.

    18. This was a hoot and a half. Jordan writes like he talks and is very entertaining. Along with the laughs, though, are a lot of "airing of dirty laundry" that titillates as well as evokes pitty in the reader. Somehow the very end of the book struck an unnatural note with me, but overall, I really enjoyed it. A quick read.

    19. I read this in about 2 hours. It was SO funny, I was laughing out loud to the point of tears, while sitting on the bus. The man seated next to me finally had to ask what I was reading that had me wheezing and heaving with laughter.I then started the Tab Hunter autobiography which was so dull in comparison I could hardly finish the introSomebody give Leslie Jordan his own show PLEASE!!!

    20. Most of the book I was able to listen to when Mr. Leslie Jordan did a stand-up version of this book in Puerto Vallarta February 2013. He did most of the book on stage so very little was needed to read after. Still a great re-read and some funny incidents happen along the way.

    21. I dearly love a good story. And, when the story is told by a true Southerner, violently true to his roots and with a huge splash of Oh My Glory Goodness southern charm and wit? Well, I am SOLD.Thrilled to own this one with a personalized autograph.

    22. Great book and a very quick read. There is so much in this book that I didn't know about this actor or any of the others that he's known. Very funny and entertaining, but be prepared for some adult subject matter as he admits to being a sex addict multiple times throughout the book.

    23. I'm a huge Leslie Jordan fan, so I was thrilled when I got this book. You can imagine his voice with that Southern twang as you read along. His honesty and humor are intact throughout the book as is his willingness to admit to his errors in his past. Great read.

    24. Leslie Jordan is just a fabulous comedic actor and this autobiography provides readers with all of his secrets.
