    1. Bradley sets up his ethical system by countering hedonism (pleasure) and Kant (abstract duty). Hedonism proper, self-pleasure, and hedonism as utilitarianism (greatest pleasure for all) cannot constitute the ethical good, he argues. Pleasure is an infinite series of perishable states.
