full helping out one of his teammates who I m hoping we might get to know about in a future book I really liked him We have met the mysterious Eloise Jayne in the other books She is the drummer in the girl s band and seems to be feared by all There is so much to Eloise that I want to tell you about but I m afraid I ll say too much First of all, she is a computer hacker She calls herself a hacktivist, cleaning up the cesspool of cyberspace one scam artist and troll at a time, and she sometimes bends a few rules to get justice done She also has a huge addiction to Twizzlers Eloise comes on super strong, she has come on to everyone of her band mates brothers at one time or another They all think she s strange and no one ever takes her up on her offers Until Parker s wedding, until Rhett As you get to know Eloise, you really see that there is so much to her And so does Rhett Her number one priority is her brother Other than that, she keeps to herself and her computers, righting the wrongs of cyperspace one troll at a time I think she doesn t feel like she is loveable As the book moves along and she has gotten herself in trouble, she seems amazed that the other women in her band actually care about her, are worried about her And she doesn t know what Rhett sees in her I loved watching her amazement as she realizes that these people truly care about her But, I m getting ahead of myself here It s the first time in my life someone outside of my family has really cared to get me Despite knowing the me I show the world Eloise might have gotten herself in a bit over her head with her latest project Somehow the person she was after figured out where she lives and he s after her Of course, Rhett comes to the rescue But he doesn t really know what she s done Rhett is a Navy Seal He lives by rules and laws She works around them Rhett can t get Eloise out of his head He knows she s up to something and he wants to help her He also knows that when his desk punishment is over, he ll be leaving again He s not planning on staying But until then, he wants to explore what this thing is between them Her touch both ignites me and soothes a deep ache in my soul It s like finding a missing piece That last thing that makes me feel like I don t entirely fit That this chaos inside me isn t a flaw This was so much crazy fun These two were definitely two halves of a whole Rhett saw through all of Eloise s bluster and saw the person she kept hidden Pippa Grant has such a talent for writing characters like this Characters that keep themselves hidden away until just the right person comes along and sees right through it all So, buckle your seat belts for this one, ladies And maybe stock up on Twizzlers You re in for a sweet, sexy, wild ride Pippa Grant s books always their first Halloween party, but I can t tell you Rhett says it s classified.I CAN tell you that their plans for their first Thanksgiving involve a pumpkin pie eating contest And trash talking over text message with Rhett s sister, Parker from STUD IN THE STACKS who has a horrible case of autocorrect itis.November 9 is coming soon Author s note, 2 weeks before release day The Hero and the Hacktivist has a blurb Eloise is a little upset about it she doesn t like being called a criminal but she ll live Mostly because she gets to spend the book with Rhett And touch Rhett And lick him And then there s that thing with thewait I m not supposed to talk about that yet.November 9 is getting closer Author s note, 3 weeks before release day The Hero and the Hacktivist has entered final edits My editor texted me within the first two chapters to question Eloise s creative use of euphemisms and to request that I please pay for a replacement keyboard I asked that she please instead refrain from eating or drinking while editing.Kidding No keyboards have been harmed in the creation of this romantic comedy Yet But not eating or drinking while reading is still probably a wise decision.Author s note, 4 weeks before release day Revisions happened this week for Rhett and Eloise I pulled a muscle in my face from laughing too hard It remains to be seen if anyone else will be as amused as I am, but I have hope.Next week I ll contemplate bonus epilogues.Author s note, 5 weeks before release day Eloise is crazy I love her When she walked onto the page on Mister McHottie and then tried humping everything in sight, I wasn t sure how I was going to make her into a heroine in her own story, but you know what Every woman is a heroine in her own unique way.And it s just fun to pair her with a Navy SEAL who happens to be her best friend s brother flag 30 likesLike see review View all 3 comments Nov 12, 2018 Carol rated it really liked it Shelves authors i like, borrowed clutches of the leg warmer goons who are after her. Each book in this series of interconnected standalones is terrific, but Grant pulled out all the stops on this one With every corny euphemism for sexy bits you ve ever heard and a few you never thought of, and hilariously autocorrected texts from Parker s unique and always entertaining phone, this book had me laughing through every page Along with the hilarity there s plenty of heat, but the truly special thing about this book is its heart Eloise behaves ridiculously and makes outrageous statements in order to keep people at arms length Not only is she scared that being close to someone gives them the power to hurt her, she s afraid she will eventually let down those she loves Yet somehow, Rhett sees the real Eloise, the amazing, strong, intelligent woman beneath the false bravado, and slips past her defenses, and for Eloise it s terrifying and thrilling And terrifying There s just something special about seeing a loveable, prickly on the outside but vulnerable on the inside character find their forever love.Returning to Pippa s book world is always a treat, and catching up with characters I ve come to know and love is gets her into trouble, yet underneath this tough outer shell, Eloise is pure marshmallow There s a vulnerability and softness to her that I wanted to protect But since I cannot do this Rhett was there to save the day.Our hero Rhett may be the middle child in the Elliott clan but he is no shrinking violet He s a SEAL He s tough, he s disciplined and inclined to follow the law unlike some people he single teaser for The Hero and the Hacktivist made me and desperate to get my grubby little hands on this book Why Because we ve met these two weirdos before And the brief glimpse of Rhett in Stud in the Stacks climbing in through the window of his sister s apartment for one , made me want to see of this guy Then there s Eloise, the hacktivist and all around mystery girl of the past million books since her introduction I wanted to know what her deal was so bad.So, Eloise is a part of the not yet named band with Sia Mister McHottie , Parker Stud in the Stacks, and Rhett s sister , and Willow Rockaway Bride She s always been a little mysterious, unknown job, lots of money and hits on everyone s brothers even when the wives are around She s bold and crazy and super frigging cool She s a hacktivist where she takes down bad guys for fun She s an heiress, she has the time and the money to do it.Rhett is the younger brother of Parker not entirely sure on the birth order but I know she s the oldest who is constantly threatening to tell their mother he s knocked someone up He does a lot of the same about her and Knox Side note, she s so gonna get pregnant, if only because that would be hilarious Also, Sia getting pregnant would also be incredibly funny Rhett is a SEAL, so he s got skills that makes him the hero Eloise needs I mean he s than qualified, he s saved the world a couple times over. Now going into this, I did not expect the plot to revolve around Eloise pissing off the Leg Warmer Mafia I am not unhappy In fact, this kind of weird is exactly what I ve come to expect in these books, and it s awesome It makes the danger so much light hearted and funnier She s moved some money around because Dirk Lemonson our bad guy is preying on women online and taking their money while catfishing them Obviously, he s not happy, because she stole all his money millions and directed it toward actual charities that do awesome things Meaning Eloise is basically Robin Hood But this does get her into trouble, and Rhett is the one to save her when Dirk Lemonson sends bad guys after her Rhett and his buddy Pigpen keep her safe like the badasses they are, and now I want of Pigpen. And then there s the sex I actually ended up highlighting almost all of the different ways their junk is referenced I m pretty sure Rhett named his dick Mr Winky , and I m officially worried about Pippa I mean disco stick in my banana basket , breadstick in my Alfredo bowl are two gems.Fun names are also Eloise s cats, Princess Sparkle Butt and Prince Snufflesaurus I swear I m not making this up And Pigpen, God I want his story. This book is epic, the love story is one for the ages, and these characters will make you keep coming back for. These two start as kind of weird enemies, not really wanting to want each other And watching the walls of two quite guarded people break down is awesome Their love story isn t exactly lovey dovey, but theAlso, I ll leave you with this.Rhett strips out of his shirt and holy mother of binary, I just ovulated so hard I think an egg fell out of my nose. And yes Binary is hot.I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book flag 1 likeLike see idiosyncrasies work for a relationshipshowing there really is someone out there for everyone Y all, Eloise and Rhett are just too much Eloise is just the most interesting computer nerd ever, with her bright colored and eclectic hard shell, but with a soft nougaty sweet inside She comes off all blustery and brave, and is so strong alone Rhett is one hot military man, and Eloise s uh, individualism doesn t seem to turn him off He s a by the books kind of guy though, while Eloise is of a do the wrong thing for the right reason She s a lone wolf who is hasn t had a pack to enjoy and he has a of the unlikeliest couples ever but if you remember from previous Pippa books that Rhett is the brother to Parker, who is the lead singer in the band that Eloise is also apart of There s your connection Eloise was such a complex character At times I even grew a little frustrated with her because she could never just tell the truth She was always hiding behind sarcasm or half truths or just full on lies She has created this image of herself that she feels keep people at arm s length because eventually, everyone leaves But as much as I was frustrated with her I found her completely fascinating She had all this money and she chose to spend her time on the computer righting the injustices of internet scams and trolls It s in this quest for justice that Eloise gets in over her head with her Robin Hood ness and finds herself in some deep doo doo And of course, Rhett comes in with his superhero complex to try and save the day The story is filled with two people who are hiding their true selves in order to protect others or themselves It was amazing to see that when you broke it down how similar Rhett and Eloise were in their need for chaos and righting wrongs And I cannot
