haunting portrait of a young woman s struggle with anorexia on an intimate journey to reclaim her life The chocolate went first, then the cheese, the fries, the ice cream The bread was difficult, but if she could just lose a little weight, perhaps she would make the soloists list Perhaps if she were lighter, danced better, tried harder, she would be good enough Perhaps if she just ran for one mile, lost just one pound.Anna Roux was a professional dancer who followed the man of her dreams from Paris to Missouri There, alone with her biggest fears imperfection, failure, loneliness she anorexic, this book went deep into my psyche and brought up some really bad memories and made me wonder WTH did I do that to myself for 20 years The author writes a gripping story that sucks you in and keeps you wondering if Anna will cure her disease at 17 Swann Street I was entranced by this book but it brought up one serious thought would a reader use this as a PROANA pro anorexia guide like so many awful sites on the internet that teach girls how to be MORE anorexic and skinny I googled pro ana and got THREE HUNDRED AND EIGHT MILLION hits They even sell bracelets that are meant to show other people that they are pro ana I am not going to promote the site that sells them as that site should be shut down NOW And there is also a book on ame Rant aside, this is a great book about the subject of anorexia and healing It made me think of Just Ask Alice and its self destructive escapism but I don t think that this book will get banned Any parent seeing their kid read this book should have a discussion with them over it as it is perfect for that situationthis is an excellent book deserving five stars flag Like see review Nov 14, 2018 Amy rated it liked it A very good book about a
