Rebecca, possessed not one redeeming quality, the mistress is a watered down version of Rebecca, the husband should have been named Flat Stanley and the detectives were a snore In addition to the poorly developed characters there are plot holes, the implausible and filler galore I m not happy with a one star rating but I m far from happy with this book flag 92 likesLike see review View all 42 get your head around the story as it flips from past and present, but it s so worth it as you delve deeper into the turmoil.I loved how Scott drip fed us juicy information and left us dangling until the next instalment loved it, very effective Just from reading the prologue I was excited, it doesn t give anything away but sets an eerie tone Rebecca and Paul were madly in love, married for 20 years, but they each have deep dark secrets, they are keeping from each other Eeek I can t say anything without the potential of giving something juicy away.Rebecca is addicted to medication, she did work in pharmaceutical industry but has just been sacked.Paul s business is on the up again after a hard knock But when Rebecca goes to their joint account it s nearly all gone, and ALL the transactions made are from Paul Rebecca has to now figure out just why has their whole life savings gone and just what is he hiding Rebecca and Paul are really not likeable Characters, but who doesn t love to hate characters and then find they have a love hate relationship with them They are literally the perfect characters for this story.Self absorbed, selfish, manipulate, untrustworthy, addictive personalities Rebecca s addiction made for an interesting spin, as you never quiet knew how to take her You are well aware she s high but then eerie things happen then she doubts herself making the reader doubt her too, brilliantly written THE WOMAN INSIDE is a Taut, Compulsive Atmospheric read that will get under your skin.It s a pacy read that sends you on a rollercoaster as you try to work out what s going on.There are plenty of juicy twists to keep you guessing. Each chapter draws you in, as you become further embroiled into their seedy and murky relationship. The writing flows seamlessly between characters past and present I am still amazed that this was written by two Authors co writing It s flawless, you would never know I just want to say there are some sexual encounters which some readers may find difficult, but it does add ambience to the story and isn t too explicit.I would love to see The Woman Inside made into a thriller film, it would be perfect. It has the right amount of suspense and tension to get viewers hooked. There are some amazing Thrillers already this year, and I m adding The Woman Inside at the top Would I recommend reading this intoxicating Thriller he thought it would be As Paul begins to set things right, Rebecca is ready to let go The duo begin to banter back and forth, both emotionally and psychologically, in order to gain the ultimate power freedom This book was so unexpected, folks I saw a lot of mixed reviews on here, but I jumped at the chance to read this book because a the cover is gorgeous I am superficial, judge all you want b the setting takes place on Long Island, where I grew up c it seemed like it would be full of mystery and suspense The Woman Inside is than just a mystery domestic thriller because it also shows the reality in the world we are living The United States s opioid epidemic is destroying families across the country and I have yet to read a book that reflects that issue Sure, we have a ton of unreliable narrators who have drinking problems, but that feat has been shown time and time again This time, we have a bird s eye view on how opioids can hurt anyone rich, poor, no matter your color, or gender In fact, after reading this novel, I begin researching about this on National Institute of Drug Abuse to learn This is the first time that a book has gotten me to venture that far into reality once I ve finished reading it The Woman Inside not only grabbed my attention with their discussion about opioid abuse, but it also had a lot of unexpected twists and turns This novel didn t throw random twists or red herrings out there for you to lose sight of what s happening, but each clue was part of a bigger puzzle A puzzle that I effectively did not figure out and was shocked when it came to an end I do think that this book will polarize readers on two different sides one side with devoted fans, and another side of bitter enemies This book will be left up for discussion, and I can t wait to be part of that.Thank you Dutton Books for my advanced copy in exchange for an honest review The Woman Inside will be released January 22, 2019 flag 30 likesLike see review View all 3 exactly your likeable characters They are both incredibly flawed and there s a lot going on with both of them From infidelity, lies and deceit to addiction, it s quite frankly a miracle this marriage made it to the twenty year mark.Because of Rebecca s addiction to pills, it s impossible to determine if she s a reliable narrator Is she suffering from hallucinations or paranoia Or are the things offer a solid foundation I am sure that no one could have told Rebecca that her idyllic love for this man could have created the cataclysmic events certain to topple both of their lives. With two decades behind them, they might have achieved their concept of true happiness True contentment However, enter Sheila, and Paul has an intensely hot affair that, needless to say, ended badly Sheila was not about to give Paul up and begins to stalk them Ruining Paul and Rebecca might be just fine for Sheila Meanwhile, Rebecca, a former drug rep, has developed an out of control opiate addiction It is this very addiction, and a painful past, that might just become her undoing Sheila might not be able to do worse to her than Rebecca can do to herself This chilling story is delivered with knife sharp dialog in multiple, first person points of view Their thoughts, actions and plans are played out and it was entrancing to read each of their words The twists and turns abounded in this story The conclusion in The Woman Inside is one that will be with me for a very long time I checked my records to discover that I have reviewed over 40 psychological thrillers I must say that this debut novel superseded every single one of them Every Single One This story of lies, secrets, revenge, addiction and is an exceptional display of budding talent I started this book with trepidation, but then couldn t stop for a moment to put it down As if the ending wasn t bad enough to shock and sadden me, there is the ever so brief epilogue with a final twist If this is what a pair of new authors can give to readers in their first foray, I can only imagine what they have to offer in the future E G Scott, I cannot wait for Many thanks to Dutton and to First to Read for this ARC to review in E.G Scott A true page turner from beginning to end that will have you hooked as you read chapter after chapter in this suspenseful, gripping new book. What appears to be isn t, and just when you think you have it all a perfect job, a loving marriage it all comes crumbling down How well do you really know your spouse That is one question that Rebecca finds herself wondering As the shocking events unfold, secrets are found out, and lies and betrayal occur, Rebecca finds herself becoming paranoid, uncertain, and questioning everything she thought she knew.I loved the non stop deceit and betrayal in this book There was so much going on, I found myself flipping through the pages to discover what would happen next as I was sitting on the edge of my seat reading through this book There was never a dull moment in this book and I found myself deeply immersed in the pages as I read along. The characters in this book were unreliable and questionable From the unfaithfulness, the betrayal, the secrets, the deceit, the opiate addiction, the lies, etc all the main characters were unreliable and troubled in their own way I found this all added to the story to keep the reader intrigued and guessing what would happen next. With an ending that will shock you and rock you to your very core, this book is a must read Overall this book was great and I loved it All the stars for this book This the depiction of her opioid abuse was very interesting It just goes to show how terrible big pharma is and how anyone could really become dependent on these drugs that are supposed to help I enjoyed that we were very focused on one event and a few characters, and that TWIST I was shooketh, truly I was shocked that my feelings towards the characters changed, I was not expecting anyone to have Before and After What it is before and after is a mystery The first part of the book the scene is being set, your distaste for this couple and then bam What the bam is It is a twist and well, you need to read it This is two highly toxic people, that together on equal footing just work But events have caused them to be distant, add paranoia, deception, lies, and my favourite, an unreliable narrator and you are only scratching the surface with Rebecca and Paul s marriage I do love the unreliable narrator part of a story, because I love how an author can just pull the rug from out under your feet, turning what you know on its head. You can easily fall in the guise of one chapter with the Woman Inside because they are short and snappy and at times leave you breathless A couple of scenes in the book I found I was holding my breath This was written by two people and it has been blended so well I cannot figure who wrote what bit The writing worked and got me interested in the lives of Paul and Rebecca, just like car crash tv I couldn t look away and I had to wait with bated breath to see how it was all going to pan out Especially when you couldn t tell where Rebecca s paranoia began and end, and whether it was a drug induced cloud or not.It is slow to start, focusing on what is going on without knowing what is going on, but you will be rewarded if you keep turning that page for sure 1. I think I need to give up on thrillers If they are not spectacularly well done I become irritated The main character, Rebecca, possessed not one redeeming quality, the mistress is a watered down version of Rebecca, the husband should have been named Flat Stanley and the detectives were a snore In addition to the poorly developed characters there are plot holes, the implausible and filler galore I m not happy with a one star rating but I m far from happy with this book.
