    About "Lyn Gala"

      • Lyn Gala

Lynsey Lyn Gala started writing in the back of her science notebook in third grade and hasn t stopped since Westerns starring men with shady pasts gave way to science fiction with questionable protagonists which eventually gave in to any story with a morally ambiguous character Even the purest heroes have pain and loss and darkness in their hearts, and that s where she likes to find her stories Her characters seek to better themselves and find the happy ending or happier anyway , but it s writing the struggle that inspires her muse When she isn t writing, Lyn Gala teaches in New Mexico. She first cut her teeth on fanfic gen, slash, het, and femslash She prefers to focus on plot mysteries and monsters and disasters, oh my, but sex can and does happen Some of her stories focus on power exchange, bondage or bdsm In her worlds, tops and bottoms are all mature, consenting adults In fact, stories where they aren t squick her badly, so don t expect to find abuse stories in her journal.

    1. My inner linguist went gaga over this book! The setting is Prarownt, a planet that's one of earth's trading partners. Liam, a human, is a linguist and trader who, we slowly learn, has an abusive past and now lives on the earth's military base on Prarownt. Liam doesn't seek power. He's happy to learn and serve. His favorite trader, Ondry, is a Rownt male, topping seven feet, purple, with a two-foot cock, and long tail. That sure sounds like the stuff of fetishism, no? But don't read this book for [...]

    2. Imaginative, with a clever thematic symmetry to it, and compelling leads.Oh, man did this thing hurt to leave. It just ended too soon. Just. Too. Soon. Fascinating alien species, and a world I'm agog to read more of.Marvelous world-building. Really, nicely-done.That cover, though*extended silence during which one may safely presume volumes are being spoken, cuttingly*Okay, fuck this, I can't stay silent: that cover is an abomination. Especially when the story's got so much work put into it.It's [...]

    3. More fascinating than I had expected! Not that I had a list of expectations, but as soon as I read that Claimings, Tails and other Alien Artifacts involved aliens with tails, my mind sort of went into a frenzy and fed me "Oh no! Not smutty tail action andtentacles? Oh please, not suction cups and slime!" red alerts. I shouldn’t have worried. Although there’s more than enough to enjoy if funky appendages going dark places are your kink, please don’t let that tail on the cover put you off! T [...]

    4. Yeah… I don’t think gay romance involving aliens is really my thing. Reading this felt kind of weird and while at times it was sexy, I just didn’t like the story at all. I wasn’t okay with the enslavement and I seriously wasn’t convinced by much, including the romance. Some fancy wording proper to the world, it had, but it annoyed me instead of impressing me. Bah, short stories are huge hit or misses for me. Did not finish at page 60.

    5. I wasn't sure what to expect when I went into this, but I was really impressed. The world-building here was phenomenal. The aliens were so wonderfully alien -- not just humans with a few tiny differences. They were anatomically different to the point of incompatibility, but they were also culturally different. Different rules, different nuances, and a language that didn't always translate into the scope of human ideas. Liam is a human linguist and a trader on behalf of his military superiors, on [...]

    6. Update 5/15/14 after 257th reread. (That's a rough estimate.)I cannot remember how many times I've read this book. Conservative estimations lead me to say 4? Maybe? 5? I don't know, but needless to say, though I'll say it nonetheless, I LOVE. This book.I read it the first time because of the title--it's fantastic--and the author--she's fantastic. I read it a second time after I'd read a series of unpromising but extremely popular shifter novels and I needed to clean my brain. I reread it again w [...]

    7. A Hearts On Fire Review Lyn Gala? Sci-Fi? D/s?Tentaclesex? (Yes there is a tentaclesex tailsex scene)Oh you know this is going to be a great story! I expected a story between an human linguist, Liam and a Rownt alien, Ondry, Adding in some hot sex with maybe a tentacle of two. Based on the blurb and the author's note, my expectations for this story were surpassed into subspace. The author did a wonderful job with creating an excellent Dom. Thinking back on some BDSM horror stories I've read in t [...]

    8. This was an amazing gift! And a fun one!A not that Secret Santa gave me this, thank you Helle!!!And thanks to Sofia for giving me this wonderful nest!!!Now I'll wait till Ondry comes to me, I'm waiting impatiently. It was a wonderful surprise! There were weird thingsAnd heart-melting thingsAnd cute thingsAnd more cute thingsMaybe I'm out of my mind but I want MORE tailed aliens!PS: There are some short stories set before book #2. You can skip them but they are interesting to read ;) .

    9. I'm not going to mince words here nor am I going to be wordy. To the following:This book.Liam in all his beauty as a palteia.Ondry as the perfect chilta for Liam's poor damaged soul. The tail sex.The intimacy. The science. The world building. This quote:"Palteia are so very rare and valued, and they were looking in the eyes and not seeing the beauty in front of them. I like making others jealous. So I can promise to always teach you, Liam."The leash. The cuffs.Everything they symbolize.Lyn Gala.I'm su [...]

    10. CRASH! There goes a set of assumptions, broken into tiny little pieces. So, I ogled this cover and was so excited about the prospect of depraved alien sex that honestly, I don't think I deserve such a lovely romance. I'd have teared up if I wasn't hugging the pillow as I finished it. Ondry is the quintessential, gentle giant. Sure he's reptilian, a ruthless trader, and practically emotionless--or is he? That opening scene with Liam and he conducting business definitely clued me in that Ondry was [...]

    11. Written February 27, 20143.8 Stars - for a sub's dream life in a brilliantly colored alien world - a tale with a tailI had seen word and genre epithet about Claimings, Tails, and Other Alien Artifacts as: "tailsex", "pet-slave", "aliens", "BDSM", etc and was a bit nervous before I started to read. But so very unnecessary and stupid, of me. This is just super cute and a totally pink shimmering beautiful sci-fi story.~**~**~**~**~**~**~This M/M sci-fi is most easily described as a cute & cozy [...]

    12. To say the least, this book is different but let me assure you, different in a GOOD way.So we have two MCs here, Liam and Ondry. Liam is a soldier who’s now serving as a linguist and a trader on an alien planet called Prarowont. And Ondry is a 7 feet tall alien who have been courting Liam for 5 years (and hilariously, poor Liam had no idea and he just thought Ondry was exceptionally friendly comparing his fellow Rownts) and when he found out that a new commander from earth has come and the guy [...]

    13. Tail + Sex we got some TAIL-SEX, baby!Oh boy, if that above statement makes you uncomfortable, walk away, because the tail is strong with this one. This is like a mix between a BDSM book about TPE (total power exchange), a yaoi, and a sci-fi book about alien cultures and costumes. What is ISN'T is PWP. There is soooo much plot here. My inner geek was having a field day at the discussions of words and their origins, social rules in Rownt society, and the whole concept of a palteia. It is a fascin [...]

    14. 4.5This was a fantastic sci-fi M/M story. Liam is a military linguist and trader on the Rownt homeworld and Ondry is a seven foot tall, tailed, lilac colored trader and they've been interacting and trading for the five years that Liam has been on his planet. There's a new human commander planet-side and this starts a chain reaction of events that forever change Liam and Ondry's relationship. There is a bit of D/s conversation but that never plays out physically within the story. This is pure sci- [...]

    15. 5 shiny stars for the pleasant surprise and the wisdom it bestowed on me. Although the story was somewhat unusual, it was both unique and most original. I find the ideas and concept utilize in this story to explore the D/S dynamics in a BDSM relationship to be very thought provoking and insightful too. I felt enlightened. For once we get to see that being a sub does not mean losing respect and self worth. And being a good dom does not require a heavy-handed approach. Instead patience, attentivene [...]

    16. I had my doubts regarding this book and thanks to the stupid cover that almost has nothing to do with the amazing story inside, I had assumed this is a suitable read for times that I feel like reading something kinky and erotic. IT. IS. NOT! Thank you my dear friend, Sheziss, for correcting my assumption and motivating me to start this wonderful story.Let’s see. Where to begin? I have read several books that fall into the category of Bdsm and depending on my mood, I have either enjoyed them or [...]

    17. ****4 awwww stars****This was such a great read! I loved it! And actually not what I expected, and I mean that in a good way. The title was a bit scary I mean Claimings, tails and Other Alien Artifacts? That puts all kinds of thoughts in your head, doesn't it? (Specially if you haven't read anything like this before, like me.) But when I read about the two MC doing actual trading it shines a new and innocent light on it. It was a sweet and fascinating story.Liam is a human man, and he was a swee [...]

    18. Re-read August 2017Loved it even more on my second read, so bumping it up half a star. 4.5 starsNow, this was a very different take on BDSM. This book was just amazing. Angst free and with a lot of feeeeels.I really liked Liam. He was just such a sweet soul. I wanted to hug him and never let him go. And Ondry, a true dominant master, yet so tender and loving towards Liam. This story revolves around Liam, a human sergeant stationed on the planet of the Rownt. He is responsible for the trading bus [...]

    19. Great little tale. I wish it was longer, but that’s really my greediness. I loved the world and the characters, and wouldn’t mind more. But unlike so many other novellas, the story works perfectly in the space it has. In fact, it packs an extraordinary amount into 100 pages.I generally find alien abduction stories to be paradoxes of the unpleasant kind: it’s such a great premise, but the books disappoint more often than they satisfy, relying on a short list of overly familiar tropes. (more [...]

    20. Ok, that was WAY more than what I expected. I'm thinking, capture, slave, forced tail sex, D/s shenanigans, etc. What I got was a cultural anthropologygasm and a completely unique perspective on a D/s relationship.First, I thought the world building, and actually I should say, culture building, was fascinating and extremely well done. The Rownt culture was very interesting and reading the exchanges between Liam and Ondry was fun. Once Liam was "transferred" over to Ondry the really gripping stuf [...]

    21. This completely surprised me. I was expecting another frothy 'tentacles/yay!' fantasy (nothing wrong with those, btw) and instead got a very well written sci-fi tale about intercultural/interspecies understanding and connection. Liam, a human linguist is lead trader with the alien race, the Rownt. For five years he has been improving his command of the tricky Rownt language whilst dealing with Ondry, a super-ninja/super hot Rownt trader with a talented, extra prehensile appendage (take another g [...]

    22. Holy shit. This is a perfect total power exchange without the sado or the masochism. All about safety, comfort, care and trust. I was not expecting any of that from a Alien/Human romance. With so many books out there trying to bank on the 50 Shitastic Shades of Twatbag phenomena, I've grown bored with the BDSM themes that have been so prevalent in erotica the last few years. But I surprisingly really LOVED this story. And to top it all off there's super hot alien tail sex. Yes. TAIL SEX. Did I m [...]

    23. *crosses fingers*Please, please, please let there be tail sex >.<post-read ETAYAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY~ TAILSEX!No, seriously, though. Beyond just the tailsex, which earns this book several points of awesomeness, this book is great. The characters are all amazingly real. The emotions are explored in a non-contrived manner. More importantly, I love the way Gala explored the ideas of differences in culture. That's a phenomenon I've noticed myself in personal translation projects; how damn difficult [...]

    24. This is something remarkable in M/M Sci Fi with a human-alien romantic pair. It actually makes sense to me, and feels plausible, not contrived. These aliens are wonderfully alien, and yet the love story works.I like Sci Fi, and don't mind sometimes suspending disbelief. But unless you subscribe to the Star Trek version of aliens as humanoids with some makeup, there is no real reason why sex with a human should have any appeal for an alien, or vice versa. What are the odds that evolution would cr [...]

    25. I received this book from my Secret Santa, the lovely Jenn, because she felt I needed a nudge to give it a try and step out side of the box. It's turned out she was right. So I did my part and convinced a few friends here on GR to do a buddy read with me and am I glad I did.'Claimings, Tails and Other Alien Artifacts' was an unexpected treat and one with more depth to it than I was expecting. The author is Lyn Gala so I was pretty sure going into this that I'd enjoy it. What I didn't expect was [...]

    26. This book was well outside my comfort zone, but I'm really glad I read it and I really enjoyed it, like I do most of Lyn Gala's work.As Ms. Gala states in the author's note at the beginning of the book, this book was born out of an online discussion of:what a person might want in a Dom in real life, and how fantasy and reality rarely match. The first 75% of the story is about how human linguist-in-space Liam becomes to property of alien Ondry and how they relate to one another as they work out th [...]

    27. MY FIRST TAIL SEX BOOK!This was such a sweet little story. Find out what my fellow unicorns and I thought about it during our March 2014 Happy Hour Chat. Stay tuned for details

    28. The world building, the D/s relationship, Ondry, Liam, the TAIL SEX, me like it all. Good thing there' s gonna be a sequel cuz I want more.Thank you Rosa and Sofia for harassing me suggesting I read this book.

    29. Back-to-back Buddy read with MarteThis was hard to rate for me. I don't like it enough but I don't hate it. In GR rating, it's only 2 stars. :(I loved the part where Liam & Ondry finally came together and Liam recognized his submissive nature again. I actually found their love scene very hot.But the other parts? It's like reading a science textbook or even a tourist guide map. I felt like a lost tourist checking out how local people converse using their native language while reading this. I [...]
