    1. Please tell me "Prinz" is a typo in the synopsis and that it's not how they spell prince bc I don't think I could cope with that tbh xD-----------pssssstt i know it's german for prince now. thanks(:

    2. Phew, okay. This was such a heavy book! I'm going to leave off a rating because of the amount of triggers in this book. It was verrry difficult for me to get through because of the pain/abuse/etc. There are some powerful themes woven throughout, and I'm not saying any of this to degrade that or the story! It just hit me really hard and I had a difficult time stomaching it, especially with the amount. (Again, this is not meant to be a negative review! It was just very emotionally heavy for me.) S [...]

    3. I'm just going to open up and say this book is just a jumbo of every other YA fantasy book thrown together, especially Ruined by Amy Tintera, which is a book that I loved. It also had Red Queen vibes. I think if this would have been my first YA fantasy book, I would have probably liked it a lot more. Also, throw in my most hated trope, sort of a weird love triangle, and you already have me annoyed. Actually, I'm not even sure if it was a triangle, but there were multiple kisses going on. Another [...]

    4. DNF. I ended up skimming towards the end so I left off a rating.I think this book had potential and could've pulled off all of the abuse, torture, and generally horrible world Theo faced, but it mostly turned into a super depressing & forgettable read instead. By 20% it was still just pain, misery, and suffering and ok, I get that it's a CRUEL WORLD. I get that she's in a hellish situation. I want something I can be for besides just "not this!" I don't mind a lot of suffering in my stories a [...]

    5. Hey Ya’ll!I received this ARC of Ash Princess, coming out April 24 of 2018, from a giveaway and I picked it up immediately when it arrived at my house. This book, as you’ll read in other reviews, started out trying to be the Falling Kingdoms series. I’m not even going to lie, the first maybe 15% wasn’t that unique. But by the end of the book it had come into it’s own and earned itself a 5 star rating from me, which as you guys probably know not many books get. A book really has to blo [...]

    6. eARC provided by Netgalley and publisher to read and review. Thank you!! I love me some YA fantasy!

    7. 8/20/17Cover Real!!! OMFG, it is gorgeous!Like OMG someone give it to me now!---Well this seems right up my alley Let's be honest it sounds pretty similar to things I've read, but I am YA Fantasy Trash and will try it out anyway lol

    8. As I sit here pondering my thoughts of Ash Princess the theme song just plays through my mind. As soon as I picked this book up and until I reached the final word I declared Sit still, Look pretty by Daya to be the theme song for Ash Princess. Maybe it’s just me, but I found the lyrics to go perfectly with the writings.Could wake upAnd makeupAnd play dumbPretending that I need a boyWho’s gonna treat me like a toyI know the other girlies wanna wear expensive thingsLike diamond ringsBut I don [...]

    9. I received this book on NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.I would give it 3.75 starsThis book seemed to follow a lot of YA tropes like I worried it would, however there were some elements that made the book still interesting to read. However it does follow the arc of the most hated trope of how the heroine does nothing for a long time, but then finally she decides to join the cause and become a prominent leader and though the trope is overdone it was well executed in this novel. All bash [...]

    10. 4 Stars! View review on my blog, Library in the CountryI received this copy from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.I was pleasantly surprised by Ash Princess! Laura Sebastian has built an interesting, yet dark, story about standing up to those that seek to oppress you.Ten years after her country is overthrown, Princess Theodosia (or Lady Thora as she has been “rennamed”) has become almost complaisant in her life under the Kaiser’s thumb. Subjected to regular phys [...]

    11. This arc was provided to me for free from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. 4 StarsI was really excited to be approved for this title as the cover is stunning. I would totally buy this for the cover alone. I am noticing a slight trend in YA book that come out next year that have similar titles. But this one is one of my favorites. The book itself was good as I like the whole idea of the main character finally getting the courage to fight back and take what is hers. It’s nice to see a [...]

    12. Ash Princess sounds like every other average YA out there. Conquered country, rebel princess, enemy love interest? We heard it a million times. The only thing that she lacked was a discovery that she has unique superpowers, but I think we are getting there in the next instalments. Still, it was pretty interesting, thought I think I would have liked it more, if I was 14-16 years old. I think fans of Red Queen will enjoy it, though they are not very similar. My main problem was with the plot. I me [...]

    13. Why do I feel that there are several books coming out in the next few months with similar covers? Is this the new trend? HmStill, it's a beautiful cover.

    14. I am simply blown away by this book. There are no words to describe how utterly nerve-racking this book is nor how much I loved it.I want to preface this review by saying that "Ash Princess" will definitely not be a book for everyone. Set in a harsh world, the downtrodden Astrean people have been enslaved by the Kalovaxian intruders who have usurped the crown and the highjacked the country for trade and resources. The Kalovaxians slaughtered the queen of Astrea and all of her loyal guardians but [...]

    15. thoughts and rating to come!----Okay so I have the ARC and it says this'll be 432 pages if anyone wants to fix that. (The ARC itself has 418 excluding the other stuff.)

    16. You can find this review and others on my blog shades of paper“Today is done, the time has come for little bird to fly. Tomorrow is near, the time is here for old crows to die.”I kinda feel a bit let down by this book. Ever since I heard about this book (and later saw the cover) I knew I had to read it. It sounded right of my alley and perfect for me, so I can’t thank the publisher enough for giving me an ARC of this book, because I was beyond excited to read it (well, I couldn’t wait to [...]

    17. At first I really didn't like this book. The writing felt inexperienced, but as the story grew so did the writing.I was not a huge fan of Thora, Blaise, or Art in the beginning, but really grew to like them as the story developed. I read a lot of fantasy so, at this point, it feels like I've seen everything, but the Spirit gems were a nice touch I didn't expect. This deff gives off Red Queen, Winners Curse, with a smidge of Falling Kingdoms vibes. I would deff recommend this book to others. ***a [...]

    18. "Julie, what do you do when you're having a reading slump?" Read a book that's not out for six months in two sittings, apparently. I loved this book so, so much. It wasn't about being physically strong, but mentally and emotionally strong. Theo had to be smart, be patient, be wily. She wasn't always likable and her decisions were hard, but she made them, because being a ruler means making tough choices. This story is absolutely perfect for those who love Sansa Stark.

    19. I received an arc for this book in exchange for a review and I loved it! Within the first few chapters I was crying, the story was fantastic and I could not put the book down. I am anxiously awaiting the next book in the series. 💜 The only thing I didn’t understand was the spelling of prinz and prinzess.

    20. What a pleasure it is when you read a friend's book and discover that you love the book as much as you love the person who wrote it! Fans of YA fantasy are in for a treat, but so is anyone who loves strong, smart heroines who refuse to be brought down, regardless of circumstances. Imaginative, resourceful, tactful and respectful of its characters--I think this'll be a big one, and it couldn't be more deserved. Congratulations, dear Laura!

    21. **ARC provided by the author in exchange for an honest review**I am completely enamored with Ash Princess. Laura Sebastian has woven an enchanting, and unexpected adventure that has taken me by surprise and completely stolen my heart. While the ending was definitely set up for a second book, I felt satisfied with the conclusion of book one.Theodora’s country was overtaken and her mother, the Queen of Flame and Fury, was murdered in front of her when she was only six years old. Spared, and livi [...]

    22. Jan 27, 2018Rating: 3.5 StarsI'm conflicted about this book. Mostly because it consists of most YA Fantasy elements but also heavy topics such as being a pawn and topics of physical abuse such as whippings. Despite that, I found the plot to be really draggy and drawn out. I wish there were also more details on the worldbuilding as it was a little confusing for me. The main character, Thora was a person who had endured so much over the past decade of her life. She'd been bent and almost broken to [...]

    23. I’ve been wobbling between a 3 and a four for this one. I was so happy to be able to read it early and got through it pretty fast over the weekend but there were just a few things that weremissing?. my opinion.Overall though, it was a solid start to a trilogy. There was good world building, and decent set of main characters. One thing that surprised me in a good way was how dark some parts were. I feel like in a lot of YA fantasy books that have a lot of the same tropes, even if there is war a [...]

    24. Ash Princess was alright. I was engaged from the first page. Theo was an okay storyteller. Soren is the biggest cinnamon roll around and I loved him. Weird love triangles are weird. And I love a good battle of the besties. Or hope for one in the sequel.

    25. Princess Theodosia is six years old when the Kalovaxians invade her country and murder her mother in front of her. She is held captive as a political prisoner, stripped of her title and given the name Lady Thora, princess of ash. From the outside looking in, Lady Thora is weak and spoiled, living in luxury while her people are outright tortured or worked to death in mines. But Thora is being tortured in her own way; being whipped when news of rebellion comes, and being expected to thank her capt [...]

    26. This was admittedly a little slow for me to get into but it had quite a bit to do with me starting it while away on a sunny beach at Amelia Island in Florida (it was in stark contrast to the dark world in the novel, so I had competing worlds in my head). Nevertheless, once I got into 'Ash Princess' further, I became captivated by the darkness, and contrary to some interpretations of it being a story that is there to shock its readers with the relentless abuse, and of murders of whole populations [...]
