    1. If I were to describe this story in one word, it would be hopeful. Simon is so hopeful that he'll be able to find his longtime pen pal, Amelie, while on a short-term job in Lisbon. And he literally runs right in to her. What are the chances? Isabel is worried about her job when Simon shows up, thinking he's there to replace her, but as time goes by, she's hopeful they can forge a lasting friendshipor more. How often do we miss out on some great thing because of the packaging or our preconceived i [...]

    2. You've Got Mail in Portugal This novella reminded me of one of my favorite chick-flicks, You've Got Mail. Isabel Antunes and Simon Ackerly have been pen pals since a class project in 8th grade. They used pen names, and have become best friends over the years. Now taking a new job opportunity in Lisbon, Portugal, Simon hopes to somehow meet his pen pal. He doesn't expect to run her down on his bike, or discover the following week that they are co-workers.Isabel isn't told about Simon's hire until [...]

    3. This was a really cute story! Like one of the previous reviewers said, it also reminded me of You've Got Mail in that they were penpals and eventually he finds out who she is before she does. At first I was hesitant about how that would work but the author still kept a nice slow burn chemistry growing between the couple. I also love the fact that this story takes place in Portugal. I loved reading about the sites and culture as it is a setting not usually found in contemporary romances. The reci [...]

    4. I'm so excited for Simon and Isabel's story! I had to start it four times but I'm so glad I stuck with it. It turned out so much better than the very first version. It involves food and letters and lots of other favorite things. Isabel learns to trust Simon and he learns to be patient and wait for the right moment. Together they learn that prayer helps them get the strength they need, and I really love their story. It's an LDS contemporary romance set in Lisbon, Portugal just before the Christma [...]

    5. This was a fun story with the setting in Portugal. I need to go there now! And a red-headed male lead doesn't happen very often but it does in this book. :) I loved the characters and the gentle way Simon dealt with Isabel. So very sweet. This is an LDS fiction book and some things specific to the LDS religion are mentioned. There is some talk of God and praying. Clean.

    6. I LOVE Lisbon, Portugal and reading this cute book took me right back there. The world is small and there is always that possible chance encounter. Isabel has a long time pen pal that she has written for years but knows little about his personal life like his real name. Little does she know that the new guy at work is her longtime pen pal. I love how Simon was so nice and patient. He worked on getting Isabel to trust him before saying much. I loved this cute novella. The characters had great che [...]

    7. It must be the holiday season or something because oh my heck this was a so good! I loved the sweet romance in the him not telling her who he was. It was like reading a version of you've got mail! I LOVED IT!

    8. This book did not feel like a novella. The main characters were well developed and the story did not seemed rushed or that parts were missing. I loved the setting of Lisbon and reading about the sites there. The food descriptions in the book made me hungry. I might have to try one of the recipes at the end of the book. This was a warm and fuzzy romance about two people who wrote to each other over 15 years. They developed a true friendship that turns into love. Isabell is a hard worker but is st [...]

    9. This is a 'You've Got Mail' type story. Reads quickly. A fun, sweet escape. Interesting characters and a little mystery thrown in. I thought it was the best friend who dun it. Glad it wasn't. Clean romance. Loved that they established a friendship first. The descriptions of the setting were just enough to make me interested in Portugal, but not information overload about a place I've never been. Authors lose me when they go on and on about a country and in that country's language and I can't pic [...]

    10. I so enjoyed this book, One Small Chance: a novella. It was an easy read and I enjoyed how each chapter flowed to the next. This book is a wonderful window into two peoples lives who find true love in an unexpected way. A romance novel with just that, romance. I found myself not wanting the book to end. Go get this book. The best parteven your teen can read it, no blushing needed.

    11. Loved it! Made my mouth water because of all the good cooking and made me want to move to Portugal, even though I don't speak the language. :) It's hard not to fall in love with Simon and hope for the best in his relationship with Isabel. I hope there's a companion cookbook.

    12. Read an early copy and loved it. The story is sweet and easy to believe, the characters are interesting and well developed for a short novel. I loved reading about Portugal through the setting and getting a little flavor for the area.

    13. From having their names picked out of hat to colliding with a bicycle, what are the chances of Isabel and Simon working together as well? Fate appears to have brought these two together, but it seems that it is divine intervention that keeps them together. This sweet love story with a mystery to be solved, touches the heart. Isabel's flair for cooking winds through the story and Simon's awkwardness endears him to the reader. As with most of Ms Whitney's books, this one also takes place in Portug [...]

    14. Beautiful love story! I enjoy a good, clean love story, and that's just what this is! A feel good story without the garage some romance books have. Before reading this and one other book by this talented author, I knew nothing about Portugal. It sounds like a beautiful romantic place that is described in detail in this book and others she has written. This book is a great way to escape from the everyday stresses of life!

    15. A light sweet romance set in Lisbon, Portugal. An excellent pen-pal and the power of faith story. I do recommend this story and believe you will enjoy your time with Isabel & Simon, I know I have. I read this story as a KU book.

    16. One Small Chance is a charming story of two pen pals. The story took me to Portugal. I can totally relate to the pen pal writing days. Back in Grade 6, it was our class Christmas party, the whole class was asked to huddle together for a picture. Our picture will be sent out to Netherlands. A class there wanted to exchange letters with pupils from the Philippines and we were the chosen ones. A few months after, some kids got their letters. Unfortunately, not all of us got an envelope. I, for one [...]

    17. This was a cute romance with some suspense in it as well. I loved the characters and the way their love story develops. I enjoyed that their faith played a big role in the character's lives as well. I liked that they had self-control. Simon and Isabel's characters were developed. I was feeling their emotions along with them as the story progressed. The mystery intertwined in the book was engaging as well. I would recommend this to anyone who wants to read a sweet romance over the weekend.

    18. Oh my heart, I just loved this one! It's a novella but far from feeling like one. The story kept going and going and it felt like a full length novel. It was wonderful, I think if it had been any shorter then I it would be missing some great aspects. This was such a fun novel. How many of you have seen the old movie "The Shop Around the Corner"? Or how about the musical "She Loves Me"? Those are some of my absolute favorites. I watched a production of the musical when I was in college and can't s [...]

    19. One Small Chance was a clean, sweet romance which I received a free copy from Ebooks For Review in exchange for an honest review. Amelie and Elliot have been pen pals for over 15 years, however, they used assumed names to protect their identities since they were children when the assignment was given to Isabel's class. Simon lived in the UK and Isabel in Portugal and they spoke about things that would not expose who they were and were not too personal. This continued for years, though there was [...]

    20. This novella written by Lucinda Whitney was sent to me as an eBook in exchange for an honest review. I overall really enjoyed this story, it follows two main characters : Isabel and Simon and because the story is narrated by both these characters, I felt that they were well developed and the two perspectives were distinct and clearly had different voices. They are also pretty realistic characters who have flaws and worry about such things as their jobs which I think is something we need to see m [...]

    21. Isabel Antunes doesn’t think it could get any worse after she gets plowed into by a careless man on a bike, until she finds out that the man that just ran her to the ground has just been hired by her boss to be her assistant. The only solace that Isabel finds is writing to her long time best friend and pen pal “Elliot.”When Simon Ackerley, aka Elliot, hit the woman on the street he had no idea that he’d be hitting not only his new colleague, but also long time pen pal, “Amélie”. Aft [...]

    22. I really enjoyed this sweet LDS romance. Written with strong religious references, this may not be for all readers. That said. I loved this story and the romance between Isabel and Simon/Amelie and Elliot. A fun plot with emails and encounters between the characters, the action moves along at a steady pace. It was easy to follow the dialogue and the emails. Isabel’s assumptions make life more difficult for herself and those around her. Simon patiently guides her through with tenderness and lov [...]

    23. I loved this sweet story with a "You've Got Mail" theme. The characters are well-fleshed out and the story and plot has a full arc. It didn't feel too short like novellas often do and when I finished the last page I just had to sigh in satisfaction. The setting of Portugal played a huge part in making the story stand out. It was so fun to imagine the foreign location and accents and the vivid descriptions were subtle without taking over the narrative. I was able to connect with both Isabel and S [...]

    24. I really, really enjoyed this novella. Some novellas seem too short and don't have the whole story, but this one was perfect. It told all about the characters and it was its OWN story, not an extra chapter of a different story.Loved the characters and the plot twists. I especially liked that it wasn't a secret from the reader that they were actually each other's penpals since childhood. I just hoped that she would understand why he didn't tell her sooner. Great story!I did receive a copy of this [...]

    25. This romance was a breath of fresh air! I loved the setting in Portugal, the creativity of the food, and yes, the romantic tension! I also enjoyed the unique Latter-day saint perspective. Thank you Lucinda for allowing us to enjoy your hard work!I was asked by the author to leave an honest review.

    26. 4.5/5.0Simon and Isabel make an interesting pair—especially with her thinking he's after her job.Read full review in the 2016 November issue of InD'tale Magazine.

    27. I absolutely loved this book! It is such an endearing romance and the characters are so good. Isabel Antunes has had a pen pal for fifteen years. His name is Elliot and they have kept contact throughout the ups and downs of life. Isabel is working at a school is Lisbon. She is happy but is beginning to realize she is missing something. Simon Ackerley moves to Lisbon to take a chance. He is Elliot and wants to see Isabel. The way they meet is very sudden, but Simon knows it is her. Then when Simo [...]
