    1. Any book set in a Library is a book I want to read. It also includes a Bear, so that was another plus right there. I LOVED the illustrations. They were so colorful, kids will like it. The book is about a group of little kids waiting for the Librarian to read to them for Story time. When she doesn't show up, some of the kids go look for her. What they find is a Bear instead. The kids want him to read them a scary story. The bear sneaks off just as the Librarian shows up. She picks up the book "Go [...]

    2. So much cute, and the librarian kinda looks like me, so an extra star for that. ;)But don't you ever call me a libarian. That word has two r's. For real. LOL.

    3. First sentence: It was almost story time. The children were ready. Dee couldn't wait. "Isn't it time?" she asked. But no one answered.Premise/plot: Ms. Merryweather, the children's librarian, is missing. Can the children follow the clues and solve the mystery? They may not discover Ms. Merryweather right away. But they do discover a NEW librarian. One who is willing to read them stories, but not just any stories--stories they're not allowed to read, SCARY stories. Will Ms. Merryweather return? W [...]

    4. All books come to life in the hands of readers – “The New LiBEARian,” by Alison Donald, cleverly makes that point using a fuzzy-wuzzy bookish-bear. It’s story hour in Kids’ Corner but the librarian is nowhere to be found; Ms. Merrywether has disappeared. The children go on the hunt to find her, but instead of human footprints discover paw prints on the stairs and “among the bookshelves, through a galaxy, into an ocean, and down a runway…” The librarian’s desk is sticky too—an [...]

    5. I love imaginative stories and magic. When the children decide to find their missing librarian, they discover large paw prints and track them, through a galaxy, past an ocean, and across an airport. Overturned honey and shredded books lead then to the "new" liBEARian nibbling on a fish cookbook. The children beg for a story, one they weren't usually allowed to hear - a scary story. He roars and growls, and stomps through a story. The slightly disheveled librarian returns, opens the storytime boo [...]

    6. Themes: Storytime/Librarian/Bear/LibraryThis is a bit too long for storytime, but could work with older toddlers."Story time at the library! But the librarian isn't there. Where is she? Why is her desk sticky with honey, and who is sitting behind it? Could it be a new librarian? Well, maybe, but it certainly looks like a bear! A magical story about the magic of stories." - inside left jacket flap

    7. Adorable picture book about a library where the characters refuse to stay in their books and the librarian has mysteriously disappeared!I can see this being a big hit with primary age children, as they will enjoy the twists on stories they know. Lovely book which celebrates books, libraries and a love of reading!

    8. A delightful picture book debut. Great for storytime sharing, shares both the librarian (a little bit stereotypical, I must admit) and the classic children's tale she is reading. Super picky note: for a book so obviously meant to be read aloud the print is a little small and there are a few too many dialogue tags ("he said," "she said," etc.) Illustrations are great!

    9. The name should probably be changed to, "The Befuddled Librarian!" A very cute book for story hour. Anyone who has ever worked at a library knows what a magical place it is already! In this book, the library literally does come alive, or at least the characters do. This doesn't stop the children from wanting to be read to, even if it is a grumpy, hungry bear that is reading to them.

    10. This is a story about some students who went to the school library for storytime and couldn't find the librarian. Where could she be? They searched, and found a bear in the library! What happens next? Read to find out! (I liked the end the best.)

    11. Age: PreschoolCommunity Helper: LibrarianStorytime attendees solve the mystery of the missing librarian only to find that she's been replaced by a bear. A cute way to show how libraries house gateways to other worlds.

    12. Oh I love this book. The pictures perfectly capture the magic that is libraries and stories in this tale of a missing librarian and her libearian replacement. Would be good for a library storytime, one on bears, or one with fractured fairy tales.

    13. This was a wonderful book. Awesome illustrations that show the magic that books bring and the literal magic in the story. This book was filled with magic and a clever ending that made me chuckle. I love bears, books, and libraries so I loved this book. I recommend this one to all!

    14. A fun picture book featuring a missing librarian, a magical library full of books whose characters seem to be coming alive, and a new storyteller! Just right for your little reader. Kudos! @alisondonald7 @AlexWillmore @Clarionbooks @HMHCo

    15. A cheeky story about what happens when the children’s librarian shows up late for storytime and a bear steps out of his story book & takes over. Although not a unique storyline (Weisner’s The Three Pigs), it’s still a successful romp through “what if” that children should enjoy.

    16. A cute book featuring a play on the commonly used “libarian.” I can see my students enjoying this as a read aloud. Also, glad to know I’m not the only one whose library doesn’t always look perfect!

    17. Cute story about kids waiting for storytime. The librarian is late so they go searching through the magical library for her and find a liBEARian in her place. With a fantasy twist at the end.

    18. Metafiction for little readers. Cute story and sweet illustrations. Loved the section with the bear "reading" the book.

    19. The illustrations in this book are beautiful! They make me wish I had drawing skills. The story is really cute, too. I enjoyed that the story line has an interactive aspect to discuss.
