    1. I have to admit something. I read Teresa Driscoll's other book and completely was balled over by it. Its a book I will never forget. So when I saw her latest bookplusjust look at the cover, doesn't it tell a story? So in I dug and began to read.I am a bit slowed down at the moment due to taking Diazan for muscle relaxants due to my sciatica so I am not sure if that is the reason I found "getting into this book" difficult. Alas though, once I got through to a section that began to clear everything [...]

    2. I absolutely loved Recipes for Melissa last year, so when I saw that the author had a new book out, I had to read it. I’m pleased to report that I was not disappointed. Last Kiss Goodnight is another beautifully written and emotional read. Having read two books by this author now, I’m discovering that Teresa Driscoll has a way of creating authentic characters that are genuinely lovable. It is impossible not to get emotionally involved in the story. This novel has a good mix of happy and sad [...]

    3. Wow! This book! I wish I could give it ten stars, twenty! One to reread and treasure. A real masterpiece. Beautiful writing. Stunning execution. So very honest and real and heartbreaking and evocative. Interspersed with laugh-out-loud moments and scenes that will make you cry. There is music, and knitting, a campaign that will make you want to join in, and a couple running a cafe who you wish you knew. In fact, I grew to bond with all the characters in this wonderful book: Kate and Toby, Martha [...]

    4. Kate and Martha are two very different woman, yet both have something in common which seems to draw them both together. The bond that these two women have is very touching. To start with I thought Martha was like a guardian angel brought into Kate’s life, helping her at a time when she is at her lowest. It soon becomes obvious though that Martha has her own history of sadness and loss and the two women become a strength of support for each other.Last Kiss Goodnight is a story that takes you gen [...]

    6. This is the story of two women, Kate and Martha and the friendship that forms between them. Each have similarly themed tragedies in their past but it takes their friendship and the trust that blossoms between them to enable each of them to face what happened to them and finally to talk about it. It is a very moving read and there were things that happened that really made me catch my breath, especially when I read what had happened to Kate although Martha’s story is the one that takes up most [...]

    8. Having read and loved Recipes for Melissa by the same author, I just had to get hold of this book. Katie has been sleepwalking through life. Where she once had a happy, bustling life, she now had a shell of a life. Empty, with hours at hand with nothing but her thoughts. So empty that she took to getting on tourist bus tours and escaping the reality of her life for a few hours. On one such tour she spots a strange woman knotting something in lemon yellow. Martha has secrets of her own, ghosts of [...]

Each character has an inte [...]

    16. The Last Kiss Goodnight opens with a letter to Martha from Josef from Moscow in 1960. The narrative then moves into the present time which is 1976 in Aylesborough-on-sea where we are introduced to Kate who repeatedly rides the tour bus, ensuring that she is there early enough to guarantee the same seat each time. From the bus, Kate sees a woman, knitting, on a bench who we discover is Martha. Kate is drawn to Martha so gets off the bus, buys her a cup of tea and joins her. Martha is a bit of a n [...]

    22. Teresa Driscoll has a gift for creating likeable, relatable characters - the standout point of this novel for me is the way she has crafted it's players. This book left me feeling like I had been welcomed into a community of very real people and I'd shared in their grief and friendship. It covers some intense, sensitive subjects with great care and sensitivity, and enough lightness and humour that the story is never bogged down by the pain of the character's experiences. Absolutely heart-breakin [...]

    26. A truly emotional book about loss, heartbreak, friendship and love. Two women suffering the unbearable loss of a child, albeit in different ways, meet and strike up an unlikely friendship, which ultimately saves them. The story starts in 1976, with a flashback to 1957, and is told from Kate, Martha, Matthew and Josef's perspectives, and is beautifully and sensitively written.
