    About "Gwen Dandridge"

      • Gwen Dandridge

Gwen Dandridge Is a well-known author, some of his books are a fascination for readers like in the The Dragons' Chosen book, this is one of the most wanted Gwen Dandridge author readers around the world.

    1. We are proud to announce that THE DRAGON’S CHOSEN by Gwen Dandridge is a B.R.A.G.Medallion Honoree. This tells a reader that this book is well worth their time and money!

    2. Seldom, if ever, have I seen such effective use made of point of view in a work of mediaeval fantasy as it is in The Dragons' Chosen. The keen observation and detailed thought that have been given to it make the book a delight to read. Gems such as this - "She must be accustomed to hard work, for I could see muscles in her arms and legs, but she had all her teeth. An enigma." - drive home the reality of the characters to striking effect. The writing is down to earth, but never coarse, and the com [...]

    3. Wow! I loved reading The Dragons' Chosen by Gwen Dandridge. I couldn't stop reading or I should say it was difficult to stop and do my work. I usually don't read fantasy books about Dragons and or Wizards, but my husband does. He suggested I read this book and I'm glad he did. My husband receives books to review and this is one of them. It was very well-written and clean with very few errors. In fact I only noticed one and that was a spacing error. Top notch writing in my opinion. The author wro [...]

    4. This is an exciting and gripping tale, told in 'medieval' times, but with a time traveller from Berkeley in the 1970s. There is good contrast between Genevieve and Chris, showing how time can change attitudes. With everything from action and adventure, to a dash of romance, this is a young adult fantasy with something for everyone.I have to say that I personally found Chris to be a jarring character, although she did provide some good points that made Genevieve question certain things. For her t [...]

    5. WonderfulA fantastic blend of fantasy and political commentary, with a great deal of humor, tension, and plot twists along the way.

    6. Genevieve, the crown princess of Verdeux, is faced with a challenge. With her seventeenth birthday fast approaching, she is being besieged by suitors, and must soon choose one. But, thus far, despite a procession of eligible men—young and old—from the other kingdoms, she has found none to her liking. Then, one day, a messenger arrives at the palace, bearing a pendant and a seal for Genevieve, a seal with the image of a dragon. She has been ‘chosen.’ According to an ancient pact, every hun [...]

    7. I won this book from the Booklikes giveaway. The Dragons' Chosen is the first book I read by Gwen Dandridge. I really enjoyed this story. It is about a fantasy world with a mixture of past and present. The story is filled with honor, adventure, action, mystery and romance. A great read.

    8. I received a free copy of this ebook in exchange for an honest review.Formatting: I originally opened the file on my computer in Calibre to view before sideloading it on to my tablet. It showed up with no major issues. The formatting wasn't pretty, but it was readable. The only possible issue that I could see was that the page numbers were included in the text, which doesn't really work if you're reading a reflowable format. Once I loaded the book onto my tablet, I opened it in the Kindle readin [...]

    9. The Dragons’ Chosen borrows off classic elements of fairy tale, fantasy and romance and gives them an engaging new twist. It has two heroines and who is the real “protagonist” switches back and forth. Genevieve is a Princess, raised to the values of loyalty and service. She is strong and smart, but understands that her responsibility has always been to serve her Kingdom and people. She’d assumed that meant marrying and cementing alliances, but if her role has changed, she is fiercely det [...]

    10. I won a print copy of The Dragons' Chosen by Gwen Dandridge through a Giveaway. The Dragons' Chosen is what comes to mind when I think of a young adult book. It's not a particularly graphic book with either the sexual or violence content. It doesn't have to be, it's that well written. As a reader, I don't always have to be told in graphic detail what is happening, one of the reasons I call my blog: Theater of the Mind. In my opinion, what the best books are. This story, set in a medieval type lan [...]

    11. This book began with a very intriguing line of characters and pulled me right in to the plot. I could barely put this story down and wanted to savor each chapter. Princess Genevieve takes us through her life in her own land and vividly transports us through her travels to the mountains to her dragon destiny. Right then the story does a flip and I was in for a surprise that I could not even imagine! A complete twist, along with her befriending Chris who always 'pops' in at the most needed moments [...]

    12. I wanted to read this book because of the delightful cover and the intriguing premise of a dutiful princess plus a 1970's Berkeley co-ed, and dragons. The story was not quite what I expected from the blurb, but in many ways it was better. It's difficult to write a review without spoilers, but I certainly do not want to spoil the surprises for the reader. Ms. Dandridge's prose is excellent, and her descriptions marvelous. Princess Genevieve was by far my favorite character, and it was a delight t [...]

    13. This book shattered all my previous notions of dragons. Who knew? Meanwhile, two very different young women set forth to fulfill a destiny. One is straight out of Berkely, the other, a princess from a fantasy kingdom. That alone creates interesting dynamics as the two develop a friendship under extraordinary circumstances. At the heart, the story questions how a young woman can recognize love when the odds seem permenantly stacked against the possibility. That she must grow, that she must alter h [...]

    14. Great book!Genevieve was very easy to empathize with and is admirable in how strong and assertive she is. Chris was cute too. The main boys were mostly likable, though perhaps the main guy could be developed a bit more? He's cool, awesome, and has a nice bit of backstory, but I feel that I don't know him very well Maybe giving even more backstory would help? The plot twists were great, with some nice surprises; the story was not what I expected either, in a good way. :) I liked how it was a grip [...]

    15. I received this as part of a contest. Dragons' Chosen is not a typical read for me, but I thought I'd give it a try regardless and I'm glad I did. Miss Dandridge does an excellent job of combining two worlds into one: that of Princess Genevieve's fantasy-riddled existence and Chris, a modern day Berkley student who slips through the realms to assist the princess. I rather liked the concept as a whole of the princess being a virgin sacrifice to the mythical dragons of lore and Chris coming throu [...]

    16. The Dragons' Chosen is a terrific YA novel about a princess and her fate. Genevieve has been raised to do her duty even though she is slightly spoiled. She will obey when a message is sent that Genevieve must be sacrificed to the dragons that appear every hundred years or so, no matter how frightened she is. Chris is a Berkeley student who suddenly appears in Genevieve's kingdom, sent to help her. The two travel together to the mountains where the dragons are waiting. Chris, who appears and disa [...]

    17. Delightful story about a princess raised to do her duty, who's selected by dragons to be their chosen sacrifice. Princess Genevieve's journey toward her fate is interrupted by a time travelling student from the faraway kingdom of Berkeley. Chris who arrives in the past wearing a strange chemise with odd lettering (I loved her t-shirts.) is a student of Women's Rights who believes that Genevieve's decision to allow herself to be sacrificed is morally wrong. Together they journey toward the land o [...]

    18. This is not normally a genre that I am attracted to but I have to say that I enjoyed reading this story. It was imaginative and action-packed. I thought the character Chris was a little over the top. But even so, the story was fun.

    19. This is not your typical fantasy story. I love that they threw a woman, from Berkeley yet, into the story. This gives the Author so many interesting story lines. A very good read.

    20. Wonderful storyThis is a love story. There are no new insights or contrivance but you will love this book. Very well written and highly recommended. I could hardly put it down.

    21. Fun, fun book. Perfect for middle readers. I would've loved it as a tween or young teen. Yes, I even loved it now, as a mom of teens and a tween.

    22. I feel the who-chooses-who conflict was pretty lackluster, and the answer was obvious from the start. I also didn't particularly like the characters, but it wasn't a terrible book, just not one I would reread.

    23. I received a free copy of this book and was asked to write an honest review. I was not blown away by this book. I have read numerous YA books and enjoyed most of them, this one is promising but could have been much better. I didn't feel like character development was extended beyond the main character even though there were at least 2-3 other characters that I would have really enjoyed learning about. The plot is good, details are good, the author obviously did her research on medieval times and [...]
