    1. Not the best set of stories in the world, but I still liked it.At the start of the book, there are paragraphs from Pat Mills describing the return of Dan Dare. I thought it a shame that these didn't continue throughout the book with contributions from the rest of the artists and writers involved. That would have added a lot of value to the book.I'll probably still end up buying volume 2.


    2. Beautiful Bellardinelli art saves so much, but that can save only so much. The stories are just way too silly and stupid and dragging.


    3. I remember bits and pieces of these from back in the late 1970s, although it wasn’t until a year or two later that I actually subscribed to the comic. But from the bits I did read, I seemed to remember it being quite good. I was wrong there. Reading the stories from start to finish in one volume really does show how bad they were. The art was often good, despite the limitations of the pulp printing process, but the scripts are uniformly awful. Admittedly, a lot of the Hampson Dare stories were [...]
