    1. A dark Dickensian-like quest! For Tristan Nuncarrow, life has been absolute hell. His alcoholic brute of a father makes his wife and son his regular punching bags and one day—Tristan’s mother finally leaves. Tristan is left with the decision of his life—stay with his abusive father or flee so he can live a free life. Tristan chooses the latter and throughout this slowly unwinding journey he runs across characters both good and bad in his efforts to reunite with his mother and find a life wo [...]

    2. Although the tale is dark and menacing at times, the carpe diem theme is redolent throughout this gripping story. I found myself rooting for Tristan along his journey of self discovery, crossing my fingers that things would start to go well for him and he could live happily ever after. The characters he meets along the way are vivid and interesting, and made me realize that we all constantly play a part in each other's lives. Be kind, seize the day—you never know who you will end up helping, e [...]

    3. Excellent story, excellent writing style. The first few chapters are really powerful. I Have Lived Today relates Tristan's maturing and how he deals with the horrendous obstacles put before him. Through the inner strength passed on from his mother he conquers both his exterior and inner demons. On the way, he meets people who restore his faith in himself and in humans. I refrain from saying too much because it could give away the story line. This is a must read.

    4. The author did a fine job creating a distinctive environment and sense of place at the beginning of the story. The mood was appropriate to the circumstances of Tristan, the main character - claustrophobic and tense. The narrative really earns some of its developments - there was a strong and singular sense of rising action in the story and growth within Tristan as he gains knowledge and understanding of his situation and place in the world. At the same time, I thought there was a little too much [...]

    5. Fantastic debut novel , beautiful written and deeply touching am looking forward to mr moores future work, would highly recommend!

    6. Steven Moore creates clearly defined characters who battle each other, physically and psychologically, in this bleak setting. Storytelling in a traditional sense makes this tale Ulyssean in nature: will the protagonist Tristan escape the dangerous fate set out for him? Will he navigate the treacherous journey he must take to discover a familial truth and shake off the dark cloak of his family? "I Have Lived Today" is aptly titled for a coming-of-age adventure which kept this reader riveted to th [...]

    7. Worth the readI don't summarize books much when I review them. I just give my opinion. This story is heartwrenching and tough but the boy who is the main character is written very well and goes through a huge life change throughout the story. I cried more than once while reading it and wish it had a little bit more happiness in the end, but it was a story of growing up and going out into the world. Some grammatical issues are throughout the book and a big distraction is that there are no page br [...]

    8. A gripping coming of age story that, although dark, had me hooked. Tristan is a truly relatable and charming main character and you really find yourself cheering for him as life throws everything it's got at the young boy. As a firsts novel this book is structured well and flows nicely. I definitely plan to keep my eye out for other books by Steve Moore.

    9. I really enjoyed this author's first novel and look forward to more from Steven Moore. I thought the writing and story were solid and beyond what I would expect from a debut author. The boy's journey was inspirational and truly was a coming of age through good and bad and all the people he encountered. Very vivid in description and poignant in message.

    10. HeartfeltDeep, meaningful, painful, joyous and ultimately humbling. Equally impressive is that this is the authors first novel. I look forward to his next book
