impossible that no amount of suspension of belief or disbelief would allow me to enjoy it Then when you add an ending with a major no no for a crime novel, the bad guy riding safely off into the sunset with no justice being served just an attempt to coerce the reader into buying the next instalment, I was really turned off An author should be honest and open with his her readers and if this is the first of a two part story or a trilogy or the start of a serial not a series the author should tell the readers so right at the start of the book I didn t find the writing all that mature, the dialogue was just so so and the character development slightly weak I ve given it 2 stars because I did finish it but I m pretty sure I won t be buying any books by this author flag 2 likesLike see As a real life covert antiterrorism agent, Simon Gervais clearly knows what he s writing about His debut novel THE THIN BLACK LINE is a fantastic read Well developed characters, believable villains and non stop realistic action kept me turning the pages The husband and wife counterterrorism team really worked for me I love books with strong female protagonists and this one delivers I ve been reading for over 50 years, and it s the first time I felt compelled to write a review Well done

    5. Entertaining read It has a very tragic beginning with an excess of death Although it is fun to read about a husband and wife special ops team, some of their dialogue seemed rough It was also interesting to read about a secret privately owned special ops force that were actually the good guys instead of the bad.
