    1. I wish I had discovered this book during the school year. One of my 6th grade students was interested in cryptozoology and even wrote a blog series on it! He would have enjoyed this book and probably could have added more information on each creature. We also have a teacher who leads an after school Big Foot Club. He'll need this book! I thought it was a little difficult to read because of the various genres/formats, but I was excited to read that the illustrators were the graphic designers on t [...]

    2. I was left wanting more from this book. It has potential to be awesome, but fell quite short for me. As an elementary school librarian I know that cryptids are a very popular topic, however I believe this book would leave many of those children feeling disappointed and rather slighted. I get that it is poetry and they were cleverly arranged, yet difficult to follow. I feel children would have a difficult time with this book independently. There are some interesting "clues" in the text and illust [...]

    3. A humorous (and short) introduction to cryptozoology for kids, told in a variety of formats, all in verse. Everything from text messages, to milk cartons (the titled bigfoot), to park signs. It was a little jarring to start right off with a creature - a little introduction would have been nice. The illustrations were graphic and suited the text, and from the same people that did the graphic props in the Harry Potter movies (which is just cool in itself!)

    4. This fun poetry book hides the poetry in the pictures, ads, and signs along the way. The author Patrick Lewis does his best to "hide" the poetry versus so that the reader has to discover each one on the page. As the reader turns the page it is a surprise as to where the poetry will be located or hidden. This book is authored by children's poet laureate J. Patrick Lewis. This clever, attention getting poetry of book is a sure hit in any elementary classroom. j

    5. I enjoyed looking at Bigfoot is Missing! The book layout and the illustrations are wonderfully rendered by MinaLima so that you get a sense of what the poetry is going to be about just from looking at the pages. I wasn't so enamored with the 'poems' since they often felt overly vague and weren't always really poems, but strange descriptions. The idea behind the book is really interesting as it's supposed to be poems about Cryptids. However, the execution was sometimes lacking and not always fun [...]

    6. Why I liked this book- I know this book won’t be released until later this month, but put it on your list for poetry month in April. What better way to get kids into reading poetry? The authors are both Children’s Poet Laureates and their expertise in their craft shines through. The poems are short, fun to read and they are about a cool topic -cryptids! Kids are going to love them. The illustrations have a comic book feel to them to add to the kid friendliness of the book. I found this book [...]

    7. By their very nature, cryptids are fascinating, and this book containing 18 poems pays tribute to them. Readers learn a bit about more well-known cryptids such as Nessie and lesser known ones such as Dingonek. The poems are very short but also quite creative and clever as is the book's design and its brightly colored, often-comic book style illustrations. Readers will be enticed into the book's pages without realizing these are poems they are reading. There are thumbnail sketches in the book's b [...]

    8. While this book did not really highlight any differences in multicultural diversity, I believe it does a spectacular job at showing the differences across the world in their myths. This could also be tied back into a theme of how no matter how far away or how different some cultures are- they all share similarities, and could possibly humanize these for children. I believe this book would be a great one on one book to read to a child and ask them to look in the pictures for the creatures being d [...]

    9. This books is about cryptozoologyp you learned a new word "Cryptozoology literally, "study of hidden animals") is a pseudoscience involving the search for animals whose existence has not been proven due to lack of evidence." It is written in a cool way. So instead of words written on a page, my favorite is the Mothman spray and the Police ticket about Bigfoot! Also the notes in the back talking about the real monster was interesting!

    10. This clever book of poetry contains short poems about numerous cryptids. There is a brief bit of information on cryptids at the front of the book and more information on the individual creatures in the back. Most pages contain more illustrations than words. The hazy, unclear drawings perfectly fit the subject matter of this book. I think it would be perfect for second through fourth grade students.

    11. Poems about cryptids (hidden animals whose real existence has not yet been proven). The formatting/layout drove me crazy (very hard to read and follow), but I did appreciate the fact that cryptids from around the world were featured.Inside back cover contains brief paragraphs of info about each of the cryptids featured in text and gives its location origin.Poetry is only eh, though topic is intriguing. Overall, I was too frustrated by the layout to really enjoy this book.

    12. This collection of poems is about cryptids, animals—like Bigfoot—whose existence has not been proven. The verse is playful and tongue-in-cheek, and the creatures of legend in the illustrations are, like real-life “proof”, never fully seen.Original post on mackinbooksinbloom/2015/03

    13. This one lost me on the first page spread. I was not a fan of the text message poem and I didn't feel like it got much better from there. The poems were oddly formatted and hard to follow. Until I flipped to the end papers, I didn't feel like I had learned anything about the monsters in question. What a bummer.

    14. Poetry-What a fun way to present myths. The book is introduced by stating that these animals that are thought to exist but we have no evidence for are called cryptids. Tales of the creatures are laid out in creative ways like wanted signs, warning, and newspaper articles. This would be fun to show to kids in a poetry unit to get the kids thinking about usual ways to write poetry.

    15. Awesome book! I would have loved to have read this when I was younger, maybe 8 or 9; it's deliciously creepy, but gently so for younger readers. This is an odd poetry book about cryptids that hits all the right notes and is brilliantly illustrated.

    16. Creative poetry about cryptozoological creatures. The large format, bright & busy images, and concise text make this a fun book. The back end pages include a brief paragraph on each of the 18 creatures.

    17. Assorted poems about various cryptids, definition of which is included at beginning. Back endpages list specifics about each creature. Some poems stronger than others, like the limerick. Big appeal in this book is the topic!

    18. Three for the art and topic integration. Two for the poems themselves. I am usually a Lewis fan but this one, even though the topics are cool, will not go down as a favorite. To be fair I did read an electronic version and was frustrated by the fact I couldn't zoom in to see details better.

    19. Cute, but the meter of the poems isn't always great. I did like learning about some of the different mythical beasts that I didn't know about before, but the poems themselves are sometimes too short to really say much.

    20. A poetry book that does not look like a poetry book and will draw in many reluctant readers with its subject matter. Each page has a slightly different presentation that will keep readers turning the pages.

    21. I love this clever and sneaky way of getting tweens interested in poetry! It is a little macabre-not so much for gentle readers. A few things I did not love, such as naming the police officer, "Fuzz;" however, the design and visuals were fantastic. Overall a fun and educational read.

    22. Best of 2015. Loved this! Illustrations tied in perfectly and the text was hilarious and conveyed so much in such a short bit. Familiar cryptids along with many not as popular known ones.

    23. Cryptology is the study of hidden animals that no one has really seen or photographed. They called cryptids.

    24. Cryptozoology is the study of hidden animals, or those whose real existence has not yet been proven. This book takes you on a tour throughout the world of these alleged mysterious creatures.

    25. A fun concept and cool designthough hard to navigate at timesI did like Nessie's poem bestBut I could take or leave the rest
