    1. Cool shit. I was worried this one might have "hidden secrets and legends" that are like, known by everyone who's not fresh off the boat. Nope. It has a few of those (sigh, yes, there's a fish sculpture at the Massachusetts state house, tell me one more time this most uninteresting fact, world) but it's mostly things you wouldn't know. I pride myself on getting in touch with my home, even temporary ones. I've only been in Boston for a year but I've immersed myself in it enough that even native Bo [...]

    2. I live in this weird state and have heard some of these "folktales and legends." It's great to see them in print and to recognize some of the places. I fit right into this state.

    3. This book was cool.I grew up in Mass, so there was some cool stuff I didn't know that would be a GREAT idea to check out sometime. Wish it was bigger!

    4. A mix between anecdotal stories, folklore, and historical information about obscure landmarks. A fun not-serious read and a must read for the person obsessed with local small town obscure adventures.

    5. Who would have thought there are so many bizarre and unique goings-on in my own innocent Bay State? This volume is stuffed full of fun facts, local history, and little-known oddities in this great new addition to the "Weird" series. This book is so engagingly written I often had a hard time putting it down for the night. Jeff Belanger has really done the legwork in unearthing every stone and peering into every nook and cranny to uncover the little known people, places and things that have influen [...]

    6. It was just an "ok" read. A lot of it dealt with stuff that wasn't "weird" or interesting to me (so I skipped quite a few "stories"). I got this book from the library under the impression that it was a "travel" book, which would tell me cool places to visit. Instead with some of the stories it was hard to even figure out where they took place until reading further in. Even then not all places gave concrete info on where to visit these areas even though they were public places. Some really needed [...]

    7. despite massachusetts being my home state, and being very familiar with many of the towns and quirks mentioned in this book, i just could not get into it. usually i suck these books up like water and re-read them constantly (with weird illinois i actually took a state make a color-coordinated different attractions i wished to visit), but this one was almost a chore to read. it was still interesting and very true to the weird state's tradition, but i just found the stories of MA very mediocre. ma [...]

    8. I really enjoyed this book. It would be a good book to have with you when you are traveling in Massachusetts. The ghost stories are not terribly scary, but some of the items border on just plain weird, like the Museum of Burnt Food. Even if one is not going to go to Massachusetts, this is an enjoyable read.

    9. Another rather routine entry in this series, which is wearing a little thin after the "Weird New Jersey" and "Weird New York" books; how many abandoned mental hospitals and epitaphs can one read? Or mysterious hills? I would advise them to get better ghost stories and better regional stories, spend a little more time writing the books and put a little more effort into the next one.

    10. I highly enjoyed this book a lot. It was interesting and intriguing to learn the different oddities and ghost stories of Massachusetts. This tag team author did a great job with this book and I plan to read many more by them.

    12. I' m a huge fan of "WEIRD" and lived here my whole life and will continue to. Definitely made some notes for family outings of course not the spooky places with the kids.
