    1. OK, suspend your disbelief for a little bit and pretend that a husband really wouldn't notice that his wife and his mistress switch places Now that you've drunk the Kool-Aid, you will really enjoy this book. Funny, sad, and sharp.

    2. I don't know if it's that I've gotten older, more cynical and more discriminating or if Olivia Goldsmith's writing has fallen down a very slippery slope into the worst kind of chicklit possible. I'd like to think it's the latter as I remember liking The First Wives Club very much when it first came out, as well as Flavor of the Month. So, it was actually with anticipation that I dove into Switcheroo, a book I found collecting dust in our garage. The plot is a simple one. Sylvie, a successful, for [...]

    3. This is "mind candy" - totally without nutritional value, but oh so delicious. A middle-aged woman vies with a "bimbo" over the husband. A fun vacation read.

    4. This book was published as The Switch in the UK, and I first read a library copy about 15 years ago. I recently found a second hand copy while I was mooching around Hay-on-Wye and, thinking how much I enjoyed reading it first time around, I bought it. Hmmm Either it's because I'm now nearer the wife's age than the mistress's, or my mind's playing tricks because it wasn't anywhere near as good as I remembered. There's a lot of humour, but the characters are fairly stereotyped, and would the husba [...]

    5. A pampered middle aged woman comes to find out that her husband has a mistress, but get this, the woman is a younger version of her. With some reflecting and such, she decides with the mistress to do some switching, hence the title. What I liked about it is that though the wife is hurt, she takes action on her marriage and life. Good book.

    6. 3.5 stars This book wasting to say the least. When Sylvie finds out that her husband is having an affair with a woman who looks like a younger version of her, she decides they should switch places. She wants the passion that Bob gives to his mistress while the mistress wants the love and security Bob gives to Sylvie. For one, you could definitely tell this book is dated. When Sylvie's mother finds out about the affair, she says that Sylvie and Bob should just work out their issues without divorce [...]

    7. I really needed to find a humorous book, after all the serious ones I have read lately. Author of THE FIRST WIVES CLUB, later made into a really comical movie, I figured Goldsmith was the author to read. She did not disappoint.

    8. I liked this book a lot more than I thought I would. I tried to read another book she wrote regarding bestsellers and absolutely could not get into it, but this had enough twists and turns and moved swiftly enough that I enjoyed it however improbable it was.

    9. Two for the price of oneA delicious deception, a wife trades places with a look alike mistress. A hilarious yet bitter sweet story of the women who were done wrong. Light and fluffy, an easy read on a cold afternoon.

    11. Read my full review at wadingthroughbooks.wordpress!I didn’t find the love story to be all that convincing because I don’t understand what the female protagonist sees in her designated romantic partner. Bob is selfish, self-absorbed and foolish–he literally cannot recognize the difference between his wife of twenty years and his mistress of several months, because he pays absolutely no attention to either of them. He doesn’t even notice how much they look alike until it is pointed out to [...]

    12. 2.5 STARS"At forty, Sylvie Schiffer has everything: a gorgeous house, two perfect children, a successful husband with a lucrative business. Everything but what she wants most: passion and romance. With the twins off to college, Sylvie thinks her marriage is about to bloom, until she discovers that her husband, Bob, is already seeding the garden--with a woman named Marla! When Sylvie confronts Marla, she gets the shock--and inspiration---of her life. Except for ten years and fifteen pounds, she a [...]

    14. This is escapism reading plain and simple, no one without a doubt would be able to pull off the stunt Sylvie convinced Marla to go along with. Unless of course their target really was as clueless as Bob Schiffers character is supposed to be. Also no woman with an ounce of self respect would want such a self absorbed person as their spouse, unless they were like Sylvies character able to see past his shortcomings and lovingly embrace the good qualities Bob had shown in the past. That all being sai [...]

    15. This is probably around the bottom of the barrel for Olivia's writing. First Wives Club and Bestseller are much better written and told and it's hard to believe that this book is by the same author. HOWEVER, the one thing this book has going for it is a rather unusual premise. The wife decides to try and trade places with the mistress to get back some of "that loving feeling" romance with her husband. The writing and execution just leaves a lot to be desired. I re-read this recently only because [...]

    16. Sylvia has been married, for many years to her husband Bob.But Bob has been lacking passion in their marriage.Sylvia finds out he is having an affair with a woman who looks exactly like her.She approaches the other woman and plans for them to switch places. As each woman finds out what each other is missing they come to terms what they must do with their lives.Hilarious Hilarious ! A fun read especially being 34 weeks pregnant and going through a very HOT summer. This book is Highly recommended fo [...]

    17. This story is a bit unbelievable as the two main women trade places because they look so similar. That could almost work except the husband believed that the wife was his mistress. Add on to that that the mistress is 10 years younger and 15 pounds lighter. The two trade places in order to get what the other one has, but in the end they see that the other's life isn't all they thought it was. An interesting read once you get past the "they could be twins" part.

    18. Yikes! What an incredibly stupid book. I disliked the main character after the first chapter! An empty nester who is over the top with childish, self-absorption. The premise of the story has an identity crisis. It meanders aimlessly unable to be regarded as romantic humor or something else. (I don't know what that something else could be) This is a really unfunny, dreadful and pathetic book. The worst book I have read so far this year.

    19. The premise was interesting and not so unbelievable that you don't wanna read it. The only problem I had is that there seemed to be too much time spent on the build up and the anticipation of the switch. The entire middle of the book is a long winded explanation of how it's GOING to be pulled off and not so much on the actual action. It was interesting in seeing each of them get comfortable in their new roles before going into them but it made me less interested in picking up the book again.

    20. Clever story about two women trading places. I happen to love this basic plot and have read several books with the same theme. Goldsmith handles this quite interestingly. While I could never switch with someone's life, I admire the learning that takes place between the two women. It's a fun read for a plane ride or something like that.

    21. This is light-hearted "brain candy" and an easy read. A humorous account about a wife and her husband's mistress switching places. The wife wants to be romanced and desirable and the mistress wants to know what it's like to be a wife and mother. Definitely a book written by a woman for women - don't think men would find the humor in this one.

    22. To anyone who read the review I posted an hour or so ago: I got two Olivia Goldsmith books confused. I don't remember this book well enough to critique it. Sorry for my error! (Now rectified.) The book I meant to dis is Bad Boy.

    23. I read this one a while back out of boredom. The story is so far-fetched and Ludacris that I actually had to finish it to see how the author could pull it off. Mildly entertaining but totally ridiculous at the same time. the 2nd star is because I still felt compelled to finish it.

    24. This book was cute and funny. It takes a light-hearted look at a what would happen if a woman and her husband's mistress switch places to fool him. Far-fetched but funny. I picked this copy up a Goodwill and am planning on taking it to the March Meetup to release.

    25. Brilliant thought up story! Though I think that there was quite a bit of a sad undertone to the whole thing. If you need a book about relationships and getting back (at) the husband, this is the one to read!

    26. An enjoyable book about a husband's "mid-life crisis", an affair, and the wife and mistress wanting what each other has. A fun read.

    27. Didn't know what I was getting into. This book was available for guests at Marriott Residence Inn, Salem, OR. The more I read the funnier it got.
