    1. This book is tons of fun. If Elmore Leonard had written the script for What's Up, Doc? while vacationing in Hawaii- well, that would be The Kona Shuffle. Every character is vivid and different and interesting to follow.

    2. This is a funny romp of a book. Set in Hawaii, the plot revolves around a jewel heisttually a defrauding which the jewels go missing. A bunch of weird people board a plan with backpacks like the one the jewels are hidden in. When the plane nearly crashes, each one grabs the nearest backpack in the rush to get off.The heroine is a private detective hired to find the jewels. Best I can figure, she's a cross-dresser with a genetic problem that allows her to talk like a man. This comes in handy when [...]

    3. I lost track of how many times I laughed out loud. Good story. Fun characters. If you like Tim Dorsey or Carl Hiaasen you should enjoy this book.

    4. There are moments in The Kona Shuffle where your eyes scan the words as fast as they can as your jaw hangs open catching flies. Esther and Tommy with the gun. The naked guy strapped to a chair and tortured with cheesy steel guitar music and a sunburn from hell. Gerald who wears plaid shorts in the Kona heat and speaks in a brogue because the father he never met is Scottish. I can’t even mention the whole fertility idol thing without cracking up because I remember those from Woolworth’s touri [...]

    5. If Carl Hiaasen moved to Hawaii and focused on organize crime rather than environmental misdeeds then you would get “The Kona Shuffle”. A mix of bumbling criminals, strange situations and the always exotic Hawaii, brings together a fun story of thievery and double cross. The characters are fun, if a bit static and the story blends together a nice mix of mystery and action to be really enjoyable. If you’re looking for a tropical misadventure in your mind pick this one up!

    6. I really enjoyed this book but what failed the 5-star rating is there were too many loose ends left in the last chapter.
