Meet AlexaMy love affair with books began probably through osmosis while I was still in my mother s womb Mom delighted in a good love story, and perhaps signals from what she was reading were sent to my developing mind, setting the course for me to become a romance author.Of course, it wasn t that easy Writing about love and passion doesn t just happen One must have a few experiences a few loves and a few losses Not too many, though, else how could you possibly know what happily ever after means Speaking of happily ever after, I had much inspiration for writing love stories while I was growing up He came in the form of a green eyed, blond haired boy who, from first glance, made me glad I was a girl.Ah, love If you ve ever been lucky enough to experience it, then you know what I m talking about Your palms break out in a sweat whenever you and he share breathing space And when he speaks, the sound of his voice beats a path to your soul Your heart feels like it s about to bubble over and you re tempted to break out in song at the mere mention of his name It s like you re in a Doris Day musical.Convinced that boy was meant to be mine, I penned maybe crayoned, as I was only seven years old at the time my first love story about how our lives would be when we grew up Only he and I never got the chance to have our 2.5 kids or our three car garage or our white picket fence As they say, S t happens And then life goes on For me, that meant working in a variety of jobs aerospace and environmental firms, movie reviewer, and even a minute in the medical field to keep myself in pretty shoes But nothing ever held my interest the way writing about love did And not only that, but I d recently taken an on line quiz that measured my sexuality quotient I scored an 18 Not good I m pretty sure there s a rule somewhere that says when your sexuality quotient drops below 20, wearing granny panties isn t far behind Granny panties weren t for me.So now here I am, no longer sitting under the harsh glare of fluorescent lights Instead, I spend my days basking under the glow of a pink, 60 watt desk lamp, pouring my heart out onto reams of 20 lb brilliant white paper My commute is ten feet down a carpeted hallway, and my dress code varies, according to season My stories are about bold men and the women who love them and I m pretty sure my sexuality quotient is just fine. And though I live in my own little romantic dream world, I m also a realist For instance, I realize that after playing the same songs on the piano for the last twenty or so years probably means I won t ever be a concert pianist I also realize I m not meant to be a farmer, as I ve not yet found a way to keep the local wildlife from ravaging my garden But one thing I have mastered is hiking I do it often, and I force my two beautiful yellow labs to do it with me.Where do I get my inspiration for writing love stories HmmI may have lost that boy, but I ll never forget the way he made me feel.

    1. I read the blurb and though "Yeah, this seems like my kind of thing, who doesn't love a hot Cowboy" Unfortunately that is where my optimism for this book ends. I didn't like either of the main characters, didn't like the ending, the setting or anything about it. I wouldn't recommend this book.

    2. Posted on Les Romantiques - Le forum du siteReviewed by FabiolaReview Copy from the PublisherI didn’t know the author before beginning this novel. The synopsis appealed to me and the story seemed funny. Alexa Darin is a non translated author who only wrote three romances, in 2006, 2007, and 2013. Another novel will be published soon, the sequel of her second romance.I had troubles with this book from the very first page. I didn’t like how the story began and I found the heroine a little hyst [...]

    3. This is the story of Taylor and Cole. Taylor is a work obsessed attorney who gets broken up with on the back of a Starbucks napkin and escapes to an island paradise to see her sister and mend her heart. The last thing she expects to find the day she gets there is another man who has the power to break her heart.Cole is a retired bull rider who moved to the islands to start a new life. He wants Taylor from the day they meet and works to make her his.Can Taylor give up her life in Seattle for life [...]

    4. This is a solid three star read for me. Maybe a 3.5. Taylor is a driven, hard-working lawyer who doesn't like to show weakness. When she goes to the island where her sister lives and works, she meets hunky cowboy Cole. As I read, I was confused because NetGalley had this in the "new adult" category. I wouldn't call this "new adult." It was contemporary romance / women's fiction. The story dragged in places for me, especially when there seemed to be pages of description about the setting, or abou [...]

    5. Now I’m not a huge romance reader, but I did get a change to read this new book by Alexa Darin, “Live A Little Love A Lot”, and I found it to be a real fun story. This was the first book I have read in first person, present tense before, but I found it to be a real nice change. I enjoyed living the story as it happened thru the main character, Taylor Grant’s eyes. It was a much more intimate perspective than I was expecting. The book was also super easy read; now I’m not the quickest o [...]

    6. I liked this book! I enjoyed the first two books, and thought the first an easy light read (Kisses Don't Lie), followed by the second (Good with His Hands) which was more in depth and a longer read. "Live a little, Love a Lot" combined the best of the two, with the right amount of steam infused to make the story sizzle. I'm not sure about the review that found tedium in the descriptions of the settings, since those are the details I find so important in a book because they help you build the men [...]

    7. *ARC from NetGalley and Publisher in exchange for an honest review.*Taylor, an attorney from Seattle, travels to the Caribbean to check on her sister. She meets her sister’s motley crew of friends and employees and is intrigued by one of them – Cade – who brings out her inner gidiot (you need to read the book to get this reference). This story is more about Taylors transformation from an uptight yuppie to a freer island spirit – as she discovers why her sister chooses to stay in this par [...]

    8. Live a Little, Love a Lot is an enjoyable contemporary romance that takes place between a hard working Seattle attorney and a retired bull rider. Taylor Grant visits the island paradise where her sister runs a bar, and almost immediately encounters swoon worthy Cole McKenzie. As the hot chemistry between them begins to develop into something more, Taylor wonders what future there could be between herself and this man who lives in the exotic locale. Soon she has more to worry about in their tenta [...]

    9. *ARC provided in exchange for an honest review*This is a 2.5 star read for me. I had a couple of issues with this story. First, Live a Little Love A Lot was categorized on NetGalley as a NA romance. I think it should have been listed as contemporary romance. The pace of the plot dragged in places for me, I would have like to see a bit less description on the setting. The sexual scenes were a bit awkward, they read like the author was uncomfortable with writing them. Even though I had the above i [...]

    10. Cover equals Heather reading book, and cowboy really equals Heather reading book. Cole he's a sweetheart and he's flirty and playful, "he glances down at my hand on his leg, which, until now, I hadn't realized was there. "Let's save that for later, darlin'. Plenty of time to get to know each other while you're here." He's considerate, kind, and he thinks a whole bunch about Taylor, "I couldn't leave things the way we did." Although I enjoyed reading this book I thought something was missing, may [...]

    11. This review can also be found at chiquitablogger.wordpress SUCH a cute story! Very different than what I was expecting! For one, the characters were a lot older than I had imagined. Based on the cover, I was thinking 20-21 year olds, but this story is about people in their 30s at least. There was some humor, some drama, and some PG-13 romance. Definitely recommended!*Received an ARC for honest review.*

    12. I forced myself about 35% into this book and gave up. I couldn't connect with the characters. I felt like I was forcing myself to keep reading something I had no interest in.
