    About "Jove Belle"

      • Jove Belle

Jove Belle was born and raised against a backdrop of orchards and potato fields The youngest of four children, she was raised in a conservative, Christian home and began asking why at a very young age, much to the consternation of her mother and grandmother At the customary age of eighteen, she fled southern Idaho in pursuit of broader minds and fewer traffic jams involving the local livestock The road didn t end in Portland, Oregon, but there were many confusing freeway interchanges that a girl from the sticks was ill prepared to deal with As a result, she has lived in the Portland metro area for over fifteen years and still can t figure out how she manages to spend so much time in traffic when there s not a stray sheep or cow in sight. She lives with her partner of twelve years Between them they share three children, two dogs, two cats, two mortgage payments, one sedan, and one requisite dyke pickup truck One day she hopes to live in a house that doesn t generate a never ending honey do list.Incidentally, she never stopped asking why, but did expand her arsenal of questions to include who, what, when, where and, most important of all, how In those questions, a story is born.

    1. The whole book is written in third person, from the point of view of the protagonist, KC Hall. Unfortunately, I find her to be a rather pathetic, unlikeable character. For the most part of the book, she irritates me and prevents me from rating the book higher than two and a half stars, rounded up to generous three.

    2. The two-year hiatus since we've seen a novel from Jove Belle was more than worth the wait. I'm still trying to get her characters out of my head and I've gone back to read the ending twice more because it is so sweet.Belle writes such clear picture of small town Southern living, it took me right back to another small Southern town I divorced more than a year ago. Everybody knows everybody's business -- or at least they think they do. And, they all slide into church pews on Sunday morning as thou [...]

    3. Surprisingly sweet. I was really happy with how this one turned out. I recommend also going to the author's site and checking out the bonus scenes. The first one reads like a smexy epilogue.

    4. I'm not sure what led me to pick up this book, but I'm glad that I did. The setting is fantastic. I think only someone with rural roots could write about it so well. Church and big family meals on Sundays, strong community ties, gossip that takes three minutes to travel from one end of the town to the other side and strong family connections all aid in making the Texas setting a "character" in the book. KC and her family seemingly pop out of the page and each person has enough personality to mak [...]

    5. Love and DevotionSynopsisKC Hall loves her family, her small East Texas town, and her best friend, Emma Reynolds. All of that takes a backseat when her lover beckons. Lonnie is blond, beautiful, and willing. She’s also married and a lifelong friend of KC’s mama.KC knows the affair is a bad idea, but she just can’t help herself. When presented with the lush landscape of Lonnie’s body, KC subscribes to the philosophy of orgasm first, think later.” Unfortunately, a secret that big is impo [...]

    6. It's a nice story. Kind of predictable with the generic "let's fix everything in the last three chapters" formula. It was my first time reading this author. I honestly don't remember how I got to this book, recommendation system maybe?

    7. LOVE & DEVOTION takes place in small-town Texas, where lesbians are as scarce as cow-tippers living in New York City. A town where drinking away your problems seems commonplace and necessary. It’s also a town where gossip flows faster than sermons at the local Baptist church. The lead heroine, KC, is a womanizer and is described in very feminine terms. She appears to be very close to her family and has cheerleader trophies in her childhood room at her mama’s house. At first when I pictur [...]

    8. Note: If you have a problem with lesbians don't read this book. After reading the blurb, I am sure you realize what this is about. I didn't have a problem with KC`s preference for a partner but with the decisions she made. One of them was finding out that KC had an affair with a woman, who is 20 years older than her (that wasn't a problem either), the mothers best friend and married with a daughter (A little cliche if you ask me and my problem with the book). Then a faint square came with Emma, K [...]

    9. 4.3 starsF/F romanceI first came across Love and Devotion as a short story in a 2010 anthology (Lesbian Lust: Erotic Stories) that focused on the affair of a young lesbian and an older married woman and really liked it a lot. But to see that same story revised as the opening of this novel was really interesting. It's even better! The power of a good revision. Those opening chapters are my favorite part of the book. Lonnie was a wonderfully drawn and fun character! Here we meet KC Hall, an attract [...]

    10. I was VERY excited about getting this book for review because I have read so many books that are you traditional male/female relationships, and have even enjoyed a few male/male reads but I have been dying for a female/female book and Jove did not leave me disappointed.Okay character overview: KC (main character) is a lesbian and proud of it. She wants to be loved but the person in which she wants that love from, Lonnie, just doesn’t return that love.Emma is KC’s best friend and stands by KC [...]

    12. I never thought I would be into f/f books, but I decided to give it a try and see how I liked it since I like books outside of my normal comfort zone. I am really glad that Love & Devotion was my first f/f book because I really did enjoy this story. Now that I think about it I can't figure out what I ever had against f/f books, this was my first but won't be my last.KC Hall has been having an affair with an older woman for the past year. Her name is Lonnie. She's beautiful and KC has had a c [...]

    13. Review first posted on beanieboo78.wordpress/This is the first female/female romance I have read. I may not be able to compare it to other F/F books but I can compare it to other romance novels and this definitely measures up. The sex scenes in this book are rather steamy and very explicit. There’s no build up either, the book opens and we instantly have a sex scene followed by another just a few pages later. Initially I worried that it would be a book filled with sex scenes simply because it [...]
