This book is about a brother and sister named Jack and Annie. They went on a adventure to roam or ancient Times when people believed in "Hercules"eir family was taking a vacation.Annie had a nightmare with balls of fire and a volcano erupting, but Jack and Annie does not know that I is going to happen in Roam.Jack and Annie was walking to Frog Creek woods to see. 2. Vacation Under the Volcano ReviewPERSONAL RESPONSEThis book taught me a lot of knowledge about Roman Empire. For example, it taught me Pompeii was forgotten after it was buried in ash and pumice, and the language of the ancient Romans was called Latin. Also this book taught me something about myths. Hercules was a Roman hero from the Greek myths. After the Romans conquered ancient Greece, they adopted many of Greece’s heroes and gods and goddesses. Hercules was one of themE PLOTJack and Annie [...]

    3. This book is about a brother and sister named Annie and jack. They are going on another adventure to Rome. Morgan lee fe told them to go to Rome to find an ancient scroll. So, jack and Annie search Rome for the scoll. Jack and Annie get in trouble by the guards in Rome. Then, they bump into a old lady that helps them look for the scroll. At first, the old lady took them to a safe place so the guards couldn't find them was hard looking for the scroll even if the old lady told them where to find i [...]

    4. Jack and Annie are back for another adventure, but this time they are going back to ancient Rome about 2,000 years ago. Morgan le Fay, told them to go back to retrieve a scroll for her. They go to Pompeii to save this scroll before the volcano explodes. Jack and Annie don’t realize when or where they are until a witch mentions something pertaining to what we know to be a historic day. Jack and Annie have another close call, making it back to the tree house just in time with the scroll. I would [...]

    5. Again, I appreciate the historical accuracy here. The togas and sandals for Jack and Annie were accurate, as were the descriptions of the shops on the streets and the baths. This might be a very fun way for my students, who have just spent a few months learning about ancient Rome, to get a more first-hand view of it.The one thing I noticed that wasn't QUITE accurate (and even my students should be able to recognize this, so I'm not worried about leaving this in the classroom library to read) was [...]

    6. I was surprised how entertaining and well researched this was. I learned things I never knew about Pompeii - yes I know it's a kid's book but my niece gave this to me as a gift. She bought it at a yard sale and thought it was about a Hawaiian volcano (she knows me too well) but I found the story really well written. I didn't know that Pompeii's volcanic eruption involved magma - volcanic rocks, different from the flowing lava in the islands - and the the moment the ancient city is covered, destr [...]

    7. This is a great chapter book for kids to read that really engages them in learning about the subject the book is on. This book is one of many in this series and each time the children in the story go to a new place and learn. In this book, Jack and Annie go to Pompeii during the reign of the Roman Empire. It really makes learning about this subject interesting and exciting for kids. It is a simple and small chapter book for kids who are just starting to read chapter books. In the classroom I can [...]

    8. It is about two children that go into a forest with a card and they reach the magic tree house and land in Pompei many years in the past when the volcano called mount Vesuvius erupted on the 24 August 79

    9. Oh I get it! That whole last arc was just to make way for them getting a wardrobe change whenever they travel. It makes sense given how many times it was squished in - Eskimos/Sabertooth, Arctic, stealing in Ghost Town, moon suits I get it now. Should have just made that the power of the treehouse though, or added a closet to the treehouse. Now we are stuck with an ancient but capable adult wishing them off, welcoming them back, and somehow not having time to just go herself despite being there [...]

    10. In this book, Jack and Annie find themselves in an ancient Roman town. They have been asked to find an ancient, lost story somewhere in the town. As they make their way around town, a soothsayer warns them to leave. Soon, they find out they are in the town of Pompeii, the day the volcano exploded and covered the town in ash. They must find the lost story and find their way out of town as the volcano erupts. This book brings to life the story of Mount Vesuvius in a way that is great for young rea [...]

    11. This book is about a brother and a sister who take a wild ride in a magic tree house to ancient Rome to retrieve a book. The story follows the pair as they explore what it was like to live in ancient times. They realize there are many similarities to their everyday life, but there are some minor differences too. The story explains the historic event of Pompeii. The two children were able to see first hand the destruction the volcano had on the Roman city. This was suspenseful book and kept me tu [...]

    12. I think you should read this book because it's really interesting because it's a really good, fun book. It's a fun book because it has soldiers that protect the Romans in what is called Pompeii. Some of the stuff in the story is true. The stuff that is not true is Annie and Jack and the magic tree house because going back in time is impossible. Some characters are not true. Some of them are killed when the volcano destroyed Pompeii.

    13. Good move by Osborne to have Jack and Annie travel through time to rescue books/scrolls from imminent destruction by an erupting volcano. The kids are enjoying the "Master Librarians" cycle thus far. Question: why the hell doesn't Morgan le Fay send Jack and Annie to Pompeii at least a few days, rather than minutes, before Vesuvius blows its top? She almost gets the poor whipper snappers buried in lava, ash and such! Not the sharpest tool in the shed, that Morgan.

    14. A volcanic eruption is the center point of this trip back in time and we learn more about the ancient civilization that was destroyed by the eruption of Mt. Vesuvius. This is another good transitional chapter book for students who are ready to begin chapter books because of its simplistic storyline.

    15. I was so excited to see Pompeii as the theme of this one, I actually traveled there in person and it was wonderful experiencing part of it again through the book. This one had excitement and danger as they arrive on the day of the volcano erupting. I learned a lot I didn't know and it renewed my interest in ancient Italy.

    16. I loved the evebts in this book! it was cool seeing them go to Pompeii but I didn't like how it ended. I liked the surprise of the books of when the tree house would be there, now they just go every 2 weeks and know where their going? not liking that aspect!

    17. I think that you should read this book. It interesting and cool. In real life the volcano exploded and destroyed Pompeii.

    18. A fun addition to the seriesI like that it teaches kids about what happened at Pompeii and also incorporates Greek/Roman mythology interesting jumping off point for children.

    19. It was a great idea to do the same thing that they did in the book! I loved all the books that I read in the section of The Magic Tree House!

    20. Their magic tree house wisks them to Roman times. And soon they discover that it is the very day the town is destroyed and so they run to the tree house and go home.

    21. this one made me sad cause i know alot of people really did die from the volcano erupting still a good read though
