    1. Really Good.Great recipes, and some history that dispells a lot of myths about the way people lived during the Medieval Ages.

    2. This is a great little resource book on medieval culinary, etiquette and dinning history. There are a few recipes thrown in too. It's short, but packed full of some very interesting information. Oh it's a Kindle freebie, which makes it even better. Wassail 6 C red wine 10 C apple cider 1/2 C brown sugar 2 tsp. whole cloves 2 tsp. whole Allspice 2 (3") sticks of cinnamon 3 oranges (studded with cloves) In a large pot, mix the wine, cider, sugar, cloves, allspice and cinnamon. Heat to boiling, an [...]

    3. 2,5 starsThe recipes are quite useful, but you pretty much get the same ones on godecookery The recipes do not have a devotion of the dish out pictures do you might as well look at the online version. The first half of the book is articles on different parts of medieval cuisine. As fare as I can tell (based on what else I have read about the period) I disagree with a number of details about the period. Calling the period the dark ages was symptomatic for the process I had with the text, as it is [...]

    4. There's nothing special here, but since I got this on Kindle for a song, it's hard to complain. This is not formal history text, so while there are some general period details at the start, without any footnotes or proper sourcing, it's hard to tell how accurate any of it is. There are some recipes in the back, which stand out as the highlight; several are standard fare but a few were new to me. This is goof as a starter book for those wanting to test the waters of historical cookery and maybe f [...]

    5. Fun for food nerds. Like myself. Minus for not getting the genitive S correctly. English isn't my native language, but I do know the difference between plural and possession Other than that, a fun little book for anyone who's interested - even if superficially - in cooking, in history, in imagining how things would be if everything was really, really different.

    6. Nice light read with good information regarding COMMON foods, spices, cultivation, social class, living environments, food terms, etiquette, dining, kitchen conditions and even Holy days. It was short and by no means an extensive tomb but nicely done and interestingly written. I thoroughly enjoyed this quick educational read.

    7. Medieval Cuisine features food and culture in the Middle Ages, including the history of medieval dishes, kitchen utensils and other cooking tools, etiquette, dining, holy days, common medieval recipes, food terms, words and phrases, and a medieval day in the life.

    8. Fascinating look at what was considered to be appetising in the Middle Ages. Some of it sounds wuit delicious. Some of it I would not touch with a thirty-nine and a half foot pole.

    9. Fun, fast read, which taught me the origins of the term 'humble pie', so that was fun. :) Also that deer testicles were considered a delicacy. Ew.
