    1. It gets one star solely because the illustrations were entertaining and well-done.I did not like this book at all. The main character, Tilly, is a horrid little prankster. She plays all sorts of tricks on everyone, some of which could have had serious consequences. Not once does she apologize or feel any sort of contrition, even when she's sent home from school. Granted, the reason she's sent home from school is a bit flimsy (she tricks her teacher into eating Red Hots), but by the way she's bee [...]

    2. I love Molly Shannon and when I saw this book I thought it would be very cute and funny. However, after reading it to a child, he thought doing these things would be very funny and we were unable to convince him that this was fiction and didn't really happen. It's pretty difficult to just say "We can't continue reading" to a 5 year old. They just don't understand why it's not appropriate. I was really disappointed given the fact that Tilly never felt remorse for the things she did and was never [...]

    3. I didn't know Molly Shannon wrote a book, but since I really liked her on SNL I may have to give this a gander.

    4. The Truth:(My children aren't allowed to read this spoiler until they reach 13.)(view spoiler)[*Earlier*Liz: (to the kids): Why don't you ask Daddy to read it? I don't think he's ever read this book before.Kids: A mix of okays and disappointment.*Later, after having read the book to the kids*Liz: I couldn't do it. I just couldn't do it. You have no idea.Philip: What are you talking about?Liz: The book. Tilly the Trickster. I couldn't read it. I just couldn't. I've read it so much.Philip: Really? [...]

    5. At this past summer's ALA in NOLA, Molly Shannon was the closing speaker and she read her first children's book to the audience after sharing some of her background.Molly Shannon was raised by her dad (her mother died tragically in a car accident) and he always encouraged her playful and silly side. From doing fake accents to playing little tricks on each other, Molly and her dad had a fun relationship that allowed her to be a kid. Now that she herself is a mom, she wanted to write the type of b [...]

    6. Rating this book was a difficult. I really wanted to give it a higher rating because I like Molly Shannon but when it came down to it, I think 2 stars is the correct rating.First, the books is about little Tilley who likes to play tricks on people. Some of the tricks or pranks are cute and funny like when Tilley gets fully dressed and then climbs back into bed to trick her mother into thinking she’s still asleep. As the book progresses, Tilley pulls some tricks which get her suspended from sch [...]

    7. Certainly better than other celebrity books (*coughJayLenocough*), but this one lacked a little in originality. It was a lot of fun, though, to live vicariously through Tilly and her tricks (and I loved her little thrill of being sent home mean, "no school!"). Good for an older storytime crowd that will get the humor and appreciate the lesson.

    8. Tilly likes playing tricks on people but those people do not always appreciate her tricks. Tilly learns her lesson when her new red shoes are jeopardized by her pranks. Or does she? Molly Shannon and Ard Hoyt have created a fun and colorful story that may give kids everywhere some diabolical ideas for tricks that they might never have had otherwise. Beware when you drink out of paper cups.

    9. Read at ALA Annual 2011 in New Orleans. Actually, the author--actress and comedian Molly Shannon read this book to the crowd. It's a cute picture book (unofficially based on Molly and her father) featuring Tilly, a girl who loves to play tricks on anyone. Of course, one day a trick backfires and things don't go so well.

    10. Not a fan of mischievous kid books giving my kids bad ideas, especially if there are not consequences or a good lesson learned from the actions. (See: What to Do When You're Sent to Your Room by Ann Stott)

    11. The cute and sparkly cover will draw girls to this book. Tilly likes to play tricks. Some tricks are funny and others are not. When Tilly goes TOO far, what will happen? This was a Picks for Kids and Teens in People Magazine 2.6

    12. the illustrations on this book were great! but Tilly was a brat. she was mean to her family, friends, and teachers and didn't learn anything. I was hoping for the author to teach the kid a lesson but it never really happened.

    13. It's a cute book. I don't think it's a good book to read to a class, because she never learned her lesson
