    1. Powerful CombinationPower (Paul) and Beauty (Tanya) have been friends for years. Their mothers were friends, co-workers and neighbors. When Beauty’s mother died from cancer, she entrusted her daughter to Power’s mother, Charlotte. Power and Beauty went from friends to siblings. Some years later with the death of Charlotte, Power and Beauty only have each other.I had put off reading this book because of the less than favorable reviews. *flashback to MIDNIGHT by Sister Souljah* However, it was [...]

    2. I went into this book with high expectations. TI is a great rapper! Has stage presence and is a convincing actor however, as a writer I am not moved.I bought this book on audio and was able to hear the emotions stressed on the words the way the author intended but even that wasn't enough to draw me in.The book was descriptive and each character's persona was developed. But that's as far as I'm able to go with the positives. This book didn't have a plot! Point blank. Where is the plot? A glimpse i [...]

    3. Did I buy this book just because it is written by T.I.? Yes.I'm giving this book 4 stars because it exceeded my expectations. I have no idea what the target audience is for this book, and it seems like it was trying to appeal to a lot of different people. At times, it felt like some of the characters were the way they were just so every ethnic and religious group could be represented. Someone had to be gay, someone had to be Jewish, someone had to be Asian, someone had to be ___, etc. And some o [...]

    4. Power & Beauty, an urban love story written by rapper T.I. and "assisted" by David Ritz, is a plodding tale that seemed like it took me forever to get through. It follows 16 year olds who grew up together as siblings after Power's mother, Charlotte, took in Beauty when her mother dies. When Charlotte is killed in a tragic accident, the pair is left to fend for themselves -- and finally act on their long-standing attraction. After that one passionate night, they vow to never speak of it again [...]

    5. I can't wait for Part 2. I do not read Street Lit but this book was great. It was at my local library so I picked it up and very happy I did.

    6. This book was lit, very good. T.I. did an excellent job with this story. I been seeing this book around for a minute now. And wanted to read it was not disappointed, I do know I am itching for part 2. I am going over to OverDrive and cop this yes, honey. Because that ending has my heart racing.

    7. Excellent Book The book was exciting and The title was everything POWER AND BEAUTY,Slim was a killer and he also killed there Mom

    8. Blog: ladiikeiii.wordpress/2017(view spoiler)[spoilers, just a little bit (hide spoiler)]Omg, Power & Beauty: A Love Story of Life on the Streets by Tip "T.I." Harris was so good, I been wanting to read this book for awhile now and glad I gotten the chance. And finally, when they were about to meet again Power got snatched up ugh… I got to get part 2 I need to become I’m itching to know what will happen.Btw: the narrator did an excellent job with this story.

    9. This book was ok. I did not go into it thinking that it was going to be a literary masterpiece; but really, if this were a work of fan fiction, then the book's main characters would be amongst the biggest Marty Stu and Mary Sue characters out there. *Warning: Spoilers Follow*I found the character of Beauty to be the most problematic of all. She was written in such a way that her character ran the spectrum of female character stereotypes. She was so beautiful that every guy she ran across wanted [...]

    10. Well this will be short and sweet. Power is left with his sister Beauty after their mother Charlotte is killed in a fire. Beauty is not Power's biological sister, they were raised as sister and brother after Beauty lost her mother. Which to me is the same thing as being sister and brother. It was so hard for me to get past the first couple of chapters. (sections because they aren't really long enough to be chapters) I feel like TI was trying to write how he raps. The were just a bunch of sentence [...]

    11. (FROM JACKET)After the death of his mother, Charlotte, Paul "Power" Clay allows himself to be guided by Slim, a local businessman. Slim always has the best of everything, and Power is sure that if he learns Slim's ways, he'll make something of himself-and perhaps be worthy of Tanya "Beauty" Long. From Chicago to Miami to New York, through drugs, women, and violence, Power makes the difficult transistion from boy to man and, in doing so, begins to question whether those who have taught him-includ [...]

    12. I think the book dragged. The book started off well with Power and Beauty becoming intimate after a loss which adds spice to the novel. However when they separate to travel down their own "on the job" training trajectory it appears as if they are going to reconnect. I understand baiting the reader but don't bait the entire novel! Then the novel spent more time on Power rather than Beauty. I understand he is the main character however, there would not be a Power & Beauty: A love story of life [...]

    13. For a book that's essentially a ghost-written 'urban street-lit' title you'd find sold by one of those lunch table book dealers in the hood (holla, Fulton Mall!) this wasn't terrible but it wasn't that great either. There was little dramatic tension in the narrative which was largely unbelievable as the two teen protagonists both went on career trajectories that would make older, far more credentialed rivals green with envy. Moving from great jobs to even greater or more fun jobs all the while l [...]

    14. If this book were fan fiction, it would be in the Real Person Slash section and the description would probably look like this:Power and Beauty-M/F, M/F/F AU, WAFF, Interacial, Drug Use. When T.I. (renamed Power) and Kimora Lee Simmons (Beauty)'s adopted mother dies suddenly there world is thrown in to chaos. Will there love be able to overcome the streets? AN: This totaly isn't a Mary Sue fic, stop saying that. Ugh.Seriously, I don't know what's sadder, that two people took the time to write thi [...]

    15. I was surprised by how much I enjoyed reading this book. I loved the clarity of the writing. Don't know how to explain that other than to say it has nothing to do with grammar, spelling, or any other English rules.I liked the story. I thought it was well written and exciting until the end. A definite page-turner. Do I wish that the ending would have happened differently? Yes and No. Yes because i'm addicted to literary romance and No because I liked the way the author wrote the story. Slim was d [...]

    16. This was a good book. Not going to lie it took me awhile to keep picking it up. At times it drag a lot and I was fighting through it. I can understand what T.I. was trying to do with one section his and the other her, but when get to her we are back to the beginning and seeing what happened to her. I get it but i wish it was done a little closer than half way through the book. The end of the book was a complete shocker, a cliff hanger that we must wait for the second book. But other than that it [...]

    17. Omg this was such a great story to read. I'm from Atlanta and it really got my interest. Power was strong willed and got bad and good help from slim. Beauty didn't want nothing to do with him. She knew he was nothing good from the start. It was sad how power and beauty didn't reunite until 5 years later, in their 20s. They both has experienced a lot. Slim starts to act crazy and weird having dre killed and Wanda's missing. Now he wants to kill power and beauty is the person hopefully that can he [...]

    18. This book was not what I expected. It a ok book, The book concentrated on the journey of the 2 main characters Power and Beauty. I felt the story had peaks and valleys, The story would flow good then kind of looses its steam. I like book that constantly keep me engaged into the story. It was a good book, I am currently reading the sequel to Power and Beauty. I hope this sequel steps it up a little so i can raise my rating from 3 to 4

    19. Finished this book some time ago and it was filled with lots of scandal and unexpected eventsy book that can surprise me and keep me turning pages is a winner in my book! It seems that a lot of people expected more because it was written by a rapper, but it was exactly what I thought it would bee only main association to TI is the fact that the book is based in Atlanta.Reading the 2nd one now and I am already loving it as I did the first!

    20. It took me a minuet to read this book but I loved it. I didn't quite understand why Beauty didn't want to talk to Power even after she left for New York. It amazed me though that they both had to fantasize about one another to climax while sexing other people. I was mad that before they could even see each other again Power was took by someone. I need to get the other part to see who took him and why.

    21. I really liked this book. I do have to admit it took me a minute to get into it. I wanted to read it mainly because of T.I. At the end of it it really left me wanting book 2 (Trouble & Triumph) right then, but it hadn't been released yet. As soon as it was released I was right into it. Wont spoil anything about book 2 but I really hope there is a book 3 in the works I have so many unanswered questions and hopes

    22. supposedly written by T.I. with the help of some other guy - womp womp it's a sista souljah knock off, even going so far as to mention her in the middle. it's unnecessarily long. i might read the sequel since the one thing we were trying to find out, we never did, and even as long as the book was it had the nerve to be continued.

    23. this was an exceptional book! very well written and spoken. i love this to death. the interracial relationships were getting on my nerves but other than that it is good. I don't trust that Charles Slim Simmons too much & I think he got a lot to do with Power & Beauty seperation & why they don't communicate. thanks TIP this was enjoyable.

    24. Fell in love both character.learning the same things but in diffuerent ways.I'm excited to see what part two will ben't deny what you feel inside oner or later it will take hold of youn have to use power by force or influence.women beauty could get in them but brains to keep them in and their own self worth.

    25. Power & Beauty written by Tip Harris and David Ritz was a amazing well put book. From the beginning to the end i was reading this book on my toes because I didnt know what was going to happen next. The book couldn't have been written any other way, it had a great flow. I cannot wait to read the series for it.If you are looking for a well written book, this is the book you should read.

    26. T.I. is one of my favorites of all time so I went into this biased because it was his book. Quickly I realized that I really enjoyed this story and I like the characters very much. I feel the focus was stronger in Power's story than in Beauty's. Her story seamed to go by in a blink. The ending was a definite cliffhanger for sure! Way to keep coming back for more although I am glad it is a series.

    27. Not great. Thought the romance they tried to play between Power & Beauty was a bit creepy to say the least. After things got going things improved but I was pretty bothered by Power's obsession over trying to maintain relations with someone who was damn near his biological sister. That pretty much ruined the entire book for me.

    28. This book is aimed at urban youth and is written at a 5th grade reading level. Female characters are shallow and degraded by the male characters. Reading other reviews, I wondered what book others read because the storyline of Power and Beauty is predictable, not at all with depth.
